Glad you like what I've shown you so far!
Here's a couple more projects that I really must get on with: Aerial Battleship ![]() A picture of it during the early stage of construction. ![]() A little further on ![]() Gun emplacements ![]() Adding details ![]() Propeller It's mainly made from a length of EMA tube that was surplus to another project, with cheap plastic Xmas bauble domes and a plastic champagne glass at the tail end! I've added two outrigger props since these pictures were taken on the ends of the two side booms, and a few little details- it's 1/350 scale, specifically so I can use some of the multitude of model boat fittings that are available! I know there's no way on earth this could physically work, but thats never stopped me before! Speaking of physically impossible, the other ongoing project is: The Three-Legged Walking Tank ![]() Working/folding ladder ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Went bonkers and etched a spiral staircase: ![]() ![]() passing Lego man for scale. This is how it's fits in the cabin: ![]() ![]() The printed paper is the test for some more etching, six of these around the cabin, I'll cut out the styrene so it'll be more of a framework. The legs are posable, you can see how they work here: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The idea is that the British Empire back engineers Martian technology after the War Of The Worlds, and builds it's own boilerplate tripods... Just need to find the time to finish 'em, I've got a deadline of September for the Next big Steampunk convention in Lincoln! |

"Went bonkers and etched a spiral staircase:"
There's a fine line between genius and insanity - You are most assuredly on the genius side of the line. Beautiful work - Thanks for sharing.

I love it when there is engineering in a model, the more functionality the better.
Love this, more please. |

Been a while, how about an update on the Aerial Battleship?
Added a pair of outer engines, made from fans from car air fresheners, with resin engine cylinders and cowls from disposable champagne glasses: ![]() Added some tanks behind the bridge: ![]() More tanks: ![]() Started on the final colours: ![]() Detail of the silver gas envelope: ![]() More colour on the superstructure: ![]() Suddenly realised that it really needs a ridiculous, impossible looking power source, so after raiding the parts bin/cupboard/dungeon, I found a fret of vaguely engine or generator like parts, which became this: ![]() It sits behind the bridge assembly, looking slightly dangerous. Also, added three smokestacks, that may or may not remain as smokestacks: ![]() Hopefully get some more done this week. |

I looked again at the leg posing design from the tripod. Keeping things under a little tension with the spring clamp is nicely done. Dalek Builders could benefit from that, three guesses where. I might try a modified version of this to make the replica supermarionation puppet bodies self supporting for display.
The fretted deck plates look terrific too, very inspiring. I will be trying a bit of home etching for vent details and light covers... |
