Here's your wk viewing Guys

Finished the tail fin pattern today , Once this is moulded a lenght of steel plate , layed in the mould will give it extra strenght when the fast cast is poured in .

The other option is replicate the parts in brass , and hand it all to the Engineer , who can cut it all out , its nearly all there .

More next wk after ive defrosted .

Best

Hi Guys
Cheers for the great comments .

Im now at the stage where the main body is nearly ready for moulding , all the major add on's ie Engine detail rear exhaust etc are all complete , there are a couple of small patterns to build but nothing complicated , but one last major job is the Intercepter leg skids .

On the original model the leg skids are basicaly brass hollow rod , soldered
together , with small pieces of brass rod with the ends flatterd off by squeezing the ends together with a pair of pliers , then a holes drilled and connected together with small nuts and bolts .

I had a chat with my engineer, as i wanted to have all the parts to be machined , and to be able to assemble them with a more enginered look .

I told him i would build a set of dummy parts so he could work from , just the basics , as i would need to alter them as i went a long , they were never going to be great looking just enough , to see where the weak area's are etc how can they be improved all that kinda stuff .

I took them a long yesterday and now we have come up with some great ideas , the dummy parts are to scale of the model so its just a case off him working from ref drawing of all the detail and my basic's with a bit of luck as well they might even have springs inside for those rough landings .

Hi Guys

Well all the patterns are finished on the Intercepter, and the model was collected this afternoon .

The only thing i didnt build a pattern for was the tube with 4 fan blade's that just inserts into the rear exhaust , that will just be either plastic tube or brass ?.

These are some photo's that were taken just before collection , showing the end results of the side engine intake detail.

The last photo's are all the patterns on display , as soon as its all moulded work can begin on the interia patterns i already have the pilot from the luna moduls moulded and just need to make up the instrument panel and rear wall of the cockpit .

So in the mean time im going to return back too SKYDIVER and get SKY 1 ready for moulding , if you recal I'll mould the Diver section once SKY1 is all built , theres only a couple of little things left to do on the DIvER section , and just the windows need marking out and underside wings need some indication slots so i know everything will line up with the insert tubes on the Diver .
But i thiink i might just have a couple of days off first .

Best
Pete

Hi guys

Its been a while since i last updated anything here , but good news the Intercepter casting is here .

The main body is moulded in one piece no glueing on wings , sticking the hull together etc.

Here's some photos showing how it looked before and after the flash removal, also along side the Sky 1 pattern .

The window segments were cut out this morning , just need to cut out access panel underside to add in cockpit rear wall and control panel .

Sky 1 is also ready for moulding , ive also been working on the Diver section , still making adjustments , as i go along but only when Sky 1 is moulded can i really make all the final connecting parts line up with the Diver .

Hi Guys
Update on Intercepter build .

This model is going together like a dream , since the last update the windows have been removed , nose cone fitted , engine section fitted , rear main rocket motor fitted , side exhaust nozzels fitted and side panels to create the recces ,and inner detail glued in front of the nozzels in all around 3 hrs work .

Next job open the underside panel to gain excces to the interia , also the rear box section where the rear fin attaches, there some detail that is set back in this area

Anyone got any close up photos of the rear Section where the tail fin on the Interceptor
Attaches too.

There is some detail on the large original Intercepter that on the ref photos I have from a far rear view you can't make out what's inside the recessed area .

Do you mean just under the fin at the rear? That is a pair of parts from the Lifelike "Tillie the Toiler" kit, if you notice the parts in the side engine bell recess uses a part from the same kit, check the images attached, hope this helps mate

Hi Guys
Loads to catch up on , since i last updated .

In the last update i had just started the insert detail kit parts , thanks Bernie again those photos really helped .

So with all this info i scratched built the parts i needed and than made some rubber moulds and cast the pieces off , all the parts have now been glued in , and it looks great .

The rear fin has also been attached , all joints filled etc also more engine detail added on the left side, the wing tips have a little bullet thing that the skid legs attach too these have also now been glued on .

I now working on the interia , first i made a pattern of the main control panel , and again took moulds , this is the result , side consoles are the same i used on the luna module , these look the part inside , again all glued and resined in place .

The pilot cast and pilot seat are all ready , i still need to alter the head rest though .

Rear cockpit wall has been cast , this will have the instrument dials added later after its all been glued in and joint filled etc .

Now im looking at adding some kind of small motor with a blade that can spin , and blow up some moon dust , from the underside jet exhaust ?

on a display base this would look great .

more next time
Pete

Hi Guys

Here's some up to date pics of the Intercepter.

The cockpit is finished and the window segments have been glued in.

Ive all milled out the area's for the brass inserts that the leg support struts will srew up into place , the same again for the small exhaust nozzels next to the main rocket engine .

As you know im waiting on the return of SKY1 , ive also have a commission build to start , in scale Luna mobile with the other UFO craft ive built .

So im waiting on parts etc that ive ordered before i can carry on with these builds, so in the mean time , ive made a start on a new project that ive been asked many times before hand here's a first look photo , any guess ?

all will be revealed next time .
