*cough* anyway
Right so the Air Sea Rescue Jet. F-104 Starfighter (guessing 1/32 scale) and what looks like an F-4 Phantom tail
I am actually reading this from this site http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?im...a%3DN%26um%3D1

But i do believe that the 'unkown kit' is a phantom.
Does tubing stock mean normal tubing? if so what sizes do we guess? andyone have any casts of a B-58? I would quite happily buy the parts off them.
Cheers, Chris

Cheers Mike, it's hard to do them beacuse they exist only in two episodes and theres no internet guidlines. We don't really get that much of a decent look at them when the are on screen lol
Thanks again

that certainly is the problem with the lesser seen models, while you can sometimes make out some parts, because the vehicles arnt seen a lot, its hard to get a good look at them from all angles.

mmm I havent seen any decent shots of the side of the boom/jib/sticky out thing (whatever). Well there is one, but it's a distance shot and i only have it on youtube (low quality) and on a video recorded from TV (still low quality)
And as its spends most of it's time in the water it is nigh impossible to dicern what the base is made from

Mike you are a legend. I can see that I will need at least two more of the dockside cranes now
Wow. Ok then, the ASR craft is now shaelved, Project Floater back onto the table!!
Note that in picture 2 and picture 5 the floating bases are facing in opposite directions?
and in picture 16 there appears to be a nail-file shaped pbjet on the deck of the sinker...and in picture 19 it has gone...

sounds as simple as the crane jib is spun round the other way

there is a cut between those 2 shots so anything could have happened there

Oh yeah! Cheers Mike! It looks like there isn't actually much of it below the water line...I have come to the conclusion that yes it is a boat it is resting upon. Thought it might be an old icecream tub or butter tub...but would those take the wieght?
Where do you keep getting these behind-the-scenes pics?
In the OP2 launching pics...the tower to the left of the cranes? Igt looks likt the tower in Edge of Impact...

behind the scenes pic is from a book called 21st century visions by Derek Meddings, the best book you can get on his work and Thunderbirds, a must for any fan, however its pretty rare.

agree with the tower on the left, does look like the radio tower, maybe a smaller scale one for far away shots.

I think on these boats the tube up the middle has something to do with whats underneath, I bet there was something to turn the jib from underneath.

You may be onto something there, there is also aq small combustion engine of some sort in there, like on the MSP there is exhaust (the MSP exhaust was on the left hand side of the tractor just in front of the rear wheel sponsons). The reas I think its a motor and not anther rocket is because it's hardly visible and sustained exhaust. The may give an indication of the size of the crane base...Thinking out loud again!
The cran decks vary on design too. I the screengrab of 306 the wooden section on the left is unpainted wood! and in the similar grab of 307 below it the decks are of a different design!
You are very good a the screen grabs Mike!
