Default Alien Makers 1/2/3 - A great watch

I have just managed to get hold of all 3 DVD`s at last, Featuring `Alien Makers`,and i can only say fantastic.

I would highly recommend tracking down the DVD`s the only problem they have been uploaded on pirate/share sites, via the original site/location where they were hosted

after spending most of the Xmas holidays downloading only to get dvd`s with broken links
i have finally managed to get hold of all 3

Just to see Martin Bower explain some of the kit detailing on the Nostromo is a must in itself.(check out the Eagle bells behind him)

Good Hunting

Does anyone understand this download process as I'm find it frustrating to say the least.
I downloaded the first film (eventually) to my computer & then burnt it to DVD, however, it will only play on my computer & not my DVD player & it only takes up less than half the disc.
I then tried downloading the individual files from the main Alien forum, stitched them together as they instruct & burnt the result to DVD.
This time the disc is full but still wont play on my DVD player.
Why is there a difference in size ? is it lower quality on the Torrent to decrease the download time & the files are the "full monty" ? and why cant I get it to play on anything other than my computer ?
Any help from more experienced members would be very welcome as until I get this one sorted I dont want to try downloading the others.

I take it these are .AVI files? If so, you may need to convert them to Mpeg 2 format so that a standard DVD player is able to read them. Newer drives can decode .AVI files but older ones won't recognize the format.

Thanks for the offer "Areteecee" much appreciated as the file names initially downloaded dont have an extender and when they have been joined together they are mostly "VOB" with a couple "BUP" & "IFO" , not an "AVI" in sight, so i'm nowhere nearer a resolution.
PM sent.

Default Forget the Download from the official Site

Forget the Download from the official Site, both links have faults, and will not pass the CRC checks

I tried both NTSC and PAL versions and both have missing or wrongly named files

I got the full discs from a well known `pirate` site, but it looks like its been an `offical` torrent release.

If they did work, you would have needed something like `Clone DVD` to burn the discs

Unfortunately the Giger one has had to be taken down because Giger didn't like how he looked or sounded in the film!
I've not seen it myself but apparently he looked and sounded fine!!

The Giger disc is floating about on the net if you look hard enough and have a Rapidshare account.

Agreed. I found the insertion of a 30 second promo for aliens vs predator into the interview just a little enraging.

The first disk is gravy though! And the second and 3rd are wonderful too.
A wonderful project and achievement by Dennis Lowe. And he did all that and gives it away just for the fans.

Before the torrents where up he actually sent me a burned copy from his home in England to America.
It was a really nice thing to do.
