Does anyone know what those 4 sticks are attached to near the Eagle engine bells? At first I thought they were attached under the bells but they look as if they're attached to some other parts which are attached to the Saturn V part.

I don't know if any of you chaps are still out there but just another update about this. I've pretty much finished the main body. I've stuck the shuttle boosters flush with the main body [ unlike the original ] which I think looks better but was a bit of a job. Plus primed it.

I'm not going for an exact copy to give my self a bit of leeway [ I'm calling this a K47B ] but I'm still trying to get it as close as possible where I can. I've aso got 3 of the 4 shuttle rocket tanks pretty much finished apart from some small details so I need one more shuttle kit.

Sorry I haven't posted any photo's yet but I am working on it [ trying to figure my old digital camera out is a bit of an enigma and it's only recently I've started looking at it even though I've had it for years ].

Great to see you're still around. Hopefully it won't be long before I post some pics but this old camera's not exactly the best and I've had to uninstall it and re-install it twice. I'll definitely be posting them though so stay tuned.

Ok I know it's not a very good photo but here's the first pic chaps. Apologies for the delay in posting pics but I haven't uploaded many photos before and I've got an old digital camera which has been hanging round for years and after much hassle I've only just figured how to upload as I kept getting invalid file [ until I had the bright idea of changing the file to a jpeg ]. More to come and hopefully the quality will improve.

Ok thought I'd give the main body a light dusting of white primer. I might go for a bit of a pre-shaded look or possibly spray it completely white but paint/weather the rib detailing etc with a grey wash - or a bit both. When I've decided I'll then start spraying the back of the tanks white ready for attachment to the main body.

My dilemma now is how to attach the tanks.

Still trying to work out the best way to attach the tanks solidly. At the moment I've cut some plastic card which follows the shape of the body and tanks. The only problem is I can't just use 1 piece as that will be too thin a surface to stick to the body and tanks so I'll have to cut multiple duplicate pieces and stick them together. I'm not sure how the original tanks were attached but I can't just stick them to the main body as the ends are bigger than the tanks so they'd end up with the back jutting upwards.

So I thought for ages about how to attach the tanks. The solution I thought of first was very similar to what I've ended up doing here but it was just a piece of fairly thick sprue but I didn't think it would be strong enough to hold the tanks.

After experimenting with small pieces of plastic card cut into small squares to build them up on top of each other on the main body I realised it would be really tedious cutting all them up so I decided to go with the original sprue idea but stick a small square of plastic card on top of all the sprue pieces. I cut a bit of a U shape to the top of the sprues and bent the plastic card slightly so it will hopefully fit the curve of the tanks ok and be stronger than attaching the tanks to bare pieces of sprue and the curve might make the supports stronger. The supports are like a T shape so the next thing is to finish spraying the main body white, attach the tanks and hope they fit ok and are strong enough.
