A few more photos, courtesy of Andy H - close-up shots of the Imai Eagle engine bell ... and a possible solution! It's the Starcruiser engine bell slotted in a piece of the Airfix Saturn V kit! I've included a photo of the part on its sprue.

Just to add to the "controversy", what if the Starcruiser engine bells were cut off and stuck on to something else, like an EMA ring (they're ABS, start with the code "VX-")?

EDIT: I've just found an image of a close-up of an Imai Eagle's engine bells - they don't look like the ones on the Wanderer!

Another thought - some larger kit sprues have a "ring" in their centres. I seem to remember that these rings have a slight profile, so how about this - Starcruiser engine bells chopped off and fixed to a ring-shaped piece of sprue??!!

That close up you've provided [ which I've saved to My Pics and blown up ] looks a bit clearer than previously and if you look you can possibly see that attachment bit sticking out on the engine bells which does look a bit like the Starcruiser engine bells - plus they do look less like the Imai ones now it's a bit clearer looking at the comparisons - and hold on a minute - that part the engine bells are attached too looks suspiciously like it could be part 26 from the Airfix Saturn V [ the part that's also used on the rear of the Pursuit ships ]. It looks like the engine bells are just stuck to the 4 half sphere shaped gaps.

Bizarrely though the cone shaped part doesn't look like part 27 [ which is also used on the Pursuit ships ] and if part 26 was used it's very surprising that whoever built it didn't just use part 27 as it's a cone shape anyway.

I've just looked at the episode Killer on YouTube and the Starcruiser engines and Sat V piece aren't the original parts used. They were Airfix Eagle engines stuck to some other piece. The new pieces must have been added after the originals broke off and were lost.

Thanks for that. It gets more intriguing and I'll have a look later today.

Cheers for that SC. I watched the first 20 minutes of it last night and I see what you mean. They do look like they could be the Airfix Eagle bells but I can't tell if they look a bit less rounded and more squareish. The lip at the end certainly looks like the Airfix eagle bells though.

I think the Saturn V part might still be there but it's hard to tell. What's obvious though as you'll have noticed is the details like the satellite dishes, framing, little ladder and tiny sphere's on the front body which have gone missing.

Thanks for posting those as it makes things a lot easier than trying to freeze it on Youtube. I think SC's probably right about the eagle engine bells. If you look too it looks like they are attached to the Sat V bit as you can see the triangular shaped lips next to the eagle bell. Still puzzling what the cone is though and why they didn't just use the Sat V part number 27 seeing as it's a similar shape. And is that 4 pieces of plastic rod attached to each engine on the cone?

I wonder what the framing and satellite dishes are too?

It's clear to me that Phil (Exterminator) is a genius. That was such a good spot with the Saturn V and the Starcruiser. I think he is correct until proved otherwise.

It could be but the problem is the edge of the Starcruisers engine bells do look a bit thick compared to those YT screenshots. To me now they look more like the eagle bells.

I've stuck an Airfix eagle bell to the Sat V part and it does look like those screenshots.

Not my doing, the credit goes to Andy H for the Starcruiser/Saturn V spot!

I think I know why that might be - the EMA cones have "steps" on their inner surfaces that correspond to the outer diameters of EMA tubing. This means that an EMA tube will always sit straight in a cone.

For those who haven't seen the inside of an EMA cone, it's an exciting day, randomly stolen image attached.

You're probably right there. Maybe they didn't have any more Sat V parts so whoever built it used that instead.

I wonder who did build it too?
