Default ALIEN prequel

found this online:

things have picked up in the last several weeks, and the latest news is actually pretty surprising: According to Variety, no less than Ridley Scott himself will be directing the prequel, and if I need to remind you that Mr. Scott directed the first A L I E N, then I think you may be at the wrong horror blog. The screenwriter for the flick will be Jon Spaihts, who's clearly one of those "mega-busy but untested" scribes. The guy has no less than five scripts in various stages of development, including Children of Mars and Shadow 19.

Default Great, Ridley Scott directing the Prequel Movie to Alien(1979)

Ridley Scott is directing the Prequel Movie to "Alien"(1979).
It will be the best example of a full circle to his brilliant career...he directed the "Alien"(1979) movie that I think of as inspired by "DRAGON'S DOMAIN". As was James Cameron's sequel "Aliens"(1986) movie also inspired by the "DRAGON'S DOMAIN".

I am sure that this "Alien" prequel will be fit perfectly into the mythology that Ridley Scott established with the first film in 1979.

It will be a welcome break from the present day setting "AVP Alien Vs. Predator" movies...getting back to the future setting in space of the first four movies of this series.

I'm thinking that ALIEN was inspired by "Planet of Vampires" and "It:The Terror from Beyond Space"

Absolutely! I've thought the similarities between both films and the ALIEN script were remarkable for years - especially "Planet of the Vampires" - landing to investigate an 'alien' distress signal which turns out to be a warning...

Default Shadopilot you are right about "Planet of Vampires".

If "Planet of Vampires" inspired "Dragon's Domain" and ALIEN(1979)

"Dragon's Domain" inspired ALIENS(1986).
"DRAGON'S DOMAIN" must have inspired the movie ALIENS(1986) just substituted Lt. Ripley for Tony Cellini?

"DRAGON'S DOMAIN" After escaping the Ultra Probe(creature onboard), Cellini survives in Ultra Probe Command Module until he is recovered..then returns to confront the monster and prove it existed.

ALIEN(1979) After destructing the Nostromo, Ripley survives in Narcissus Shuttle until she is recovered....then returns to confront the monster and prove it existed in ALIENS(1986).

They should explain who the "Space Jockey" was.

The alien craft was not of ALIEN (creature) origin just a host ship for them !!!

yep noticed that about new movie . . .Bladerunner and ALIEN were described as the same universe and PURGE visuals/ sounds etc were similar . . .

Yes, I believe that "Blade Runner" and "Alien" are a part of the same universe...according to Ridley Scott.

Maybe the "Alien" Prequel will begin by showing where the Space Jockey's Spaceship found the Aliens eggs?

In the Act II the Space Jockey will probably land on Planet LV 426 with its Alien egg cargo...then the Alien will ultimately kill the Space Jockey in Act III.

Perhaps the movie will close with many years later the Nostromo landing footage from "Alien" 1979 movie?

in the last Alien vs Predator movie there was a scene with a predator using a telescope. It was very much like the space jockey. Personaly I don't count the AVP series as part of the Alien series. For me it ended with Alien Resurrection.

ALIEN was 'inspired/converted/based on' Dan O'Bannon's screenplay for John Carpenter's 'Dark Star'...

Default DX-SFX, another good point.

James Cameron is right that there have been only too brilliant ALIEN movies.

Ridley Scott's ALIEN and James Cameron's ALIENS.

I agree with you Steve - but maybe now with Ridley Scott directing this prequel, there might be a third brilliant ALIEN movie. Sounds exciting!

Default CalgaryAlphan yes!!

CalgaryAlphan, yes. I am thinking the brilliant trilogy of ALIEN movies will be:

"Alien" prequel(2011) directed by Ridley Scott
"Alien"(1979)directed by Ridley Scott
"Aliens"(1986)directed by James Cameron

all others are but footnotes...

Default AVP and the Cameron Alien Series

Somehow I feel sorry for the Predator fans at least in AVP the Aliens are still badness, the Predator guys are goody two shoes in comparison.

Just my opinion.

Another thought that occurred, If Alien was good and Aliens was very good, it seems logical that Alien - Prequel will be outstanding (yes, yes I know Alien was outstanding but I would run out of superlatives)

Do we know roughly where they are in production? I can hardly wait...

Respect the Alien I say...
