Just found this with some more pics and info on Foster's car, although the last update on the car was from 1998.

http://epguides.com/comics/shado/foster.shtml

Here's an interior pic of Straker's car with the long steering wheel

http://www.shadolibrary.org/aspects/cara2.jpg

this is Foster's car with much shorter spokes on his wheel

http://www.shadolibrary.org/aspects/carc5.jpg

I definitely saw Straker's car all those years ago. I liked the wheel.

Read this as well from another site talking about concept cars. There's some interesting information about the cars used and how they were produced, along with a few pictures.

http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f152...1/index13.html

The thread is about halfway down the page.

Looking at the bonnet scoops, I suspect that DLT owned Straker's car before it was repainted.

People have said how bad it was to try and open the doors but then others have said the cars were used on a regular basis. Interesting.

I last saw Straker's car in 1972 at Tesco Hadleigh in suffolk, now called Buy Rite. The car was owned by DLT. It was painted gold with U.F.O. written on both sides of the car. I looked in side the car and looked at the speedo, it read upto 120 mph.

I find the DVLA quote interesing. Foster and Straker's car came with a 2.5 litre V6 Ford engine. Ford also made a 3 and a 3.1 V6 litre engine. the latter was fitted to the rare R.S. Capri 3.1. Chitty, Chitty Bang, Bang also had the 2.5 engine. The U.F.O. cars and Chitty were built by Alan Mann Racing.

BTW I last saw it about twenty five years ago on the road being towed to where it is now.
The guy who owns foster's car wanted to buy straker's car but the offer was turned down.

It was said erlier that the U.F.O. cars were based on the Ford Zephyr. I've found a road test on a Zephyr 6, which used the same engine. hope this may be of interest.

Engine. 2495cc (152.2 cu. inch
112 b.h.p.
Gearbox 4 speed manual
Length 15ft.5in
Weight 25.8 cwt 1,317 kg
Width 5ft 11.3in
Height 4ft 10.5 in
Speed 0 to 60 m.p.h 14.6 secs top speed (best) 102 (mean) 96
m.p.g. overall 19.4 ( 14.6 litres /100 kms.

I'm not sure if the U.F.O. cars were manual or automatic, but it would give some idea how fast they were.

Im sure they used an escort engine and gear box hence being under powered.
The company that built them raced GT40's and the UFO cars seem to have been influenced by the ford supercars.

Not sure if the red car pictured above was actually Foster's car - there were two similar cars produced for Doppelganger, plus a third, which was a slightly different shape, that I think later became the basis for Straker's car. There's one scene in the movie where you can see all three in shot together. The red car doesn't look as if it has ever had the additional pieces attached to it that were part of Foster's car.

Yes, I read that too fab1. In an article I read, the guy that owns Foster's car said the 2.5 litre engine Zephyr was missing. So what engine did the car have? if it was an Escort engine it could have had a 1.1 1.3 or a 1.6 litre engine then it would been under powered. The 2.5 was mentioned erlier or what about the 3.1
that the DVLA has got on computer? So what engine did it have?

I think Foster's car was going to be a limited production car called Quest, but it was not to be. the guy who had Foster's car also had the Quest. Both cars were gioing to be restored.

Just found out these cars may have had the 1.6 litre Ford engine with 4 speed manual gearbox. So the Zephyr engine which the owner said was taken out may have fitted later in the car's life.

These cars are strangly remeniscent of the Nova kit cars of the seventies, they featured gull wing doors too. Wonder if they were influenced by the UFO cars?

The Mercedes 300SL had gull wing doors back in 1954.

Do any of you guys remember the Adam's brothers Probe 16? This car looked if it came out of U.F.O.
