I think the Eagles could be rooks. Or the rooks could be Eagles.

As for colour... well, how about one side has antennae, one side doesn't? (OK, the real solution is to not have the pieces painted at all, and just have black and white like a standard chess set. "Blue moves first." LOL! )

Actually, could have the probes be the pawns on the opposing (non-alpha) side. And could have eagles be the pawns on the Alpha side.

OR

Could have the pawns on the Alpha side be rovers. And the Eagle could be the Castles. And maybe Hawks as the Rooks (or have the Hawks the Castles on the opposing side).

So the question becomes, who are the opposing king, queen, etc?

(You know, you might even be able to make two chess sets. One which includes the characters and monsters and ships as pieces - and one devoted just to the ships)

Hmm... Opposing queen could be the Servant from GoP in here 'almost there' costume. For opposing king how about Zantor? Nice and tall with a properly formidable expression.

I like! I'd certainly be in line to buy one. For the pieces there could be an Eagle, a Hawk, a moonbuggy, a little figure in a space suit, Koenig's freestanding globe, a commlock, even a commpost. Instead of houses there could be those little quonset-type huts from ATAP. Lots to work with here!

Go directly to launch pad 3 for a trip in an Eagle with Carter. Do not get off unless you can roll doubles, pay 300 Moondollars, or he crashes!

"You are in an Eagle flown by Alan Carter. Pay 200 towards the inevitable repair bill or take a chance card."
