Default It's all in the detail.....

BP, I'll simply reiterate my previous comment - it's all so detailed, and it's all so neat. The towers look really really good, and it will be interesting to see how they change the appearance of the whole ship. Doubt I'll ever reach your dizzy heights in terms of workmanship - suffering as I do from clumsy fingers and too much compromising - but your pictures are certainly inspirational.

Kindest regards

Patrick

Well, I managed to get the Centauri 1 finished just in time(!) for Wonderfest in Louisville, Kentucky this past weekend. Another great show with incredible talent on display in the contest room--and a new record of 668 entries! These shots are of the Centauri 1 as she appeared on the contest table and unfortunately will have to suffice until I can take proper shots to share with you guys and post on my website gallery. I was very pleased to receive a gold award for the Centauri 1, a bronze for my Colony Ship Arcadia (aka Deuce-Zero-One), and a special award from Resin Illuminati for best scratchbuilt. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pics...

For some reason (most likely my ignorance), my iPad won't allow me to attach more than one image per post, so here's another one...

Love the brutish utilitarian look. Clean, tidy and believable detailing.
I like to see a bit of weathering on a spaceship but that's just me.
Great design, great execution... as usual.

Thanks guys. I can certainly see your point about the lack of weathering, but I decided to go for a more 2001-ish look. That, and I just plain ran out of time!
Here's another photo taken from a lower angle that shows where the one-man pod is docked...

Another beauty, B.P.

I note the judicious use of Eagle landing leg pod(s)

But of course! Somehow I managed to get six of them in there.
Glad to see you're paying attention!

Lovely! Saw photos from Wonderfest on another site and thought "hang on that looks familiar!"
Congrats she's a beaut.

Default She's on a maiden flight.....

....which is why she looks pristine but, honestly, lack of weathering doesn't matter a jot. She really is the most beautiful creation and looks totally believable. Well done on getting the award as well.

Kindest regards

Once again, thanks for the kind comments and to Patrick specifically for providing justification for the lack of weathering, which upon further thought will remain as is. I do like the idea that it is just setting out on its long journey of exploration and discovery...

One of the best things I heard said about the Centauri 1 at Wonderfest was from someone who commented that it could be entered as a 'Real Space' vehicle in the contest--if Wonderfest had such a category!

Brilliant work, BP. Never cease to be astounded at the level of detail you cram in, all of it looking like it is meant to be there. An inspiration to us all.
