Default Pulse Rifle Display

*
...or - "How to do justice to a Matsucorp M41-A Pulse Rifle"

Inspired by this I made this...

Made the mistake of doing the back with MDF - damn thing weighs a ton. I just hope the adhesive putty will hold it all up...

Very nice! I am not sure I like the trellis looking background, but overall its pretty sweet.

Here's a bit of trivia:

In the pilot episode of Firefly, when Mal leaps out to man the anti-aircraft gun, you can see what appears to be a Weyland Yutani logo on the HUD. Looks like "the company" lasts far into the future

I know what you mean about the 'trellis' look. I searched high and low for something suitable but to no avail. Had to make do with this.

Cool. Just one question. Is there a reason you hung the gun so that the digital ammo readout is NOT visible?

Several.

The weapon is pointing towards me while I work. If it were the other way round, I'd be looking at the butt!

There'll be a "weapon ID plaque" on the side of it (when I get it made). See: http://www.alienscollection.com/derrick.html . I think it looks so much more interesting than the counter. Besides, everyone knows there's an LED counter on the PR so no real need to show it.

More or less everything I display is pointing right to left. [Looks around the room] - I'm mega-dominant right-handed and if I display L-R it just turns my brain to mush! I can't stand it!

This is the UK remember...

If I see something more suitable, it wouldn't be more than a couple hours' work to replace it.

Silly me! Of course you want a gun pointing AT your head instead of AWAY from it.

Very nice indeed.

Isn't the egg crate ceiling tile mentioned in your link the stuff used for the lit roof in the Eagle hangars?

Very nice as long as you can still get the rifle off to play with it

I think so. And I've now ordered some - so expect a 're-do' sometime next week,

I have three panels of that ceiling tile stuff (actually flourescent light covering) at home, for an Eagle hangar project I have yet to start. I never thought of using it for something like this. Cool!

How can it have been 21 years since that movie came out?
