Default Stingray Designs

Hi there,

Are there any conceptual design drawings of Stingray by Reg Hill, or indeed other craft?

There is this -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STINGRAY-A...item2c5888e740

Tony James showed me it proudly about 2 years ago in Comet miniatures... stunning piece of history.

I seem to recall that Phil Rae was the proud owner of a prototype model of Stingray (used for promotional display when the series was launched if I remember correctly displayed alongside some of the puppets).

Oh and some of the costume designs were auctioned off in Bonham's in 2003(?) need to check...

Somewhere I have pictures of the prototype Stingray model, I will try to dig them out when I have time.

The design drawing of Stingray was shown in Century 21 magazine No 5 and No 6. A similar drawing was sold at Sothebys in June 1993. The Aqua Sprite drawing referred to above was in the same auction.

There are also concept paintings for "Fireball XL5" and the "Rescue 4" proposal by Reg Hill.

Is it the Rescue 4 design that's on Brains' lab wall?

I've seen a concept drawing for the SPV on the internet too, with cut outs in the side skirt allowing the front wheels to actually turn left and right.

No, "Rescue 4" was a proposal for a series that would have featured the adventures of Intergalactic Rescue.

The SPV concept drawing is also featured in Derek Meddings 21st Century Visions.
