I got at Avon IPMS show at Yate the best model kits of the Thunderbird ships
in a small scale for the price of £17 each, but the Tb5 by Imai is great because it has a Tb3 with it. I am look for the Imai Thunderbird Firefly kit and the viny TB2 by Imai? |

As for the Imai Firelfly... well, the shovel's the right shape The Imai TB5 is probably the best of their older TB kits... no gimmicks, no motors, just a good model with plenty of detail and a nice size. |

Some model kits are price out of is world and you never see them on table at model shows built or the trade stands like jurassic park viny dinosaur by Horizon, who are gone now!
I think Imai are on longer a round to? |

Most of the Imai kits came out in the late 60s according to my Imai Thunderbirds book. Also according to that book Imai brought out a resin TB1 and a resin TB3, although I've never seen them listed anywhere else other than that book.
It seems that when Imai went bust, the only a handful of their kits were released by Aoshima. Maybe we'll see the resin kits again someday. Personally I'm after the two 1/35 resin figure sets they did. I saw them in a model shop in Japan (behind the counter) for 5000 yen each. Which is silly. |

TV21Dalek do you go to Ipms or standerd model shows?
some of the resin kit on the marcket are crap, you need ten tin of car filler or more and the wet and dry paper ten sheets and more to get the model looking right, like the old Imai kits are unbuilt toys. |

The Imai TB2 resin kit was meant to be a wonderful thing, so I suspect that the TB1 and TB3 would be the same.
As for the cottage-type garage kits... yes I've built a few of them in the past. All air bubbles and misaligned mouldings. By and large Japanese resin kits tend to be well-made... at least the ones I've built are. As for the older Imai kits being unmade toys... well, for a while they were all we had, until Imai cottoned on and started to produce their accurate models... then went bust! Shame. |

Congrats! Nice buy and it looks very accurate to the originals too. How much did you have to pay?

hi chaps - yeh the detector and radio are there but not the suitcase, but I have a mate who has a spare bag so will buy that then sell the spares
it was £340 which I am very happy to pay for one in this condition - I know a big dealer just sold a very similar one for £900(!) where I can afford it I am trying to upgrade my stash as I think condition will matter more and more as time goes by |

hi - bagged this today
splendidly battered but I will get the box spruced up and swap it with my current box my current box is in generally better condition apart from the white square on the front where the lettering goes: that area I had to retouch as it was very grubby when I bought it so the spv pictured here + my very respectable box may be up for grabs in the near future if anyone's interested cheers 650349821_o.jpg |

New release by Aoshima of the Imai Thundebird 5 kit.
Includes a gimick mechanism which causes the model to rotate on its base but significantly has a ribbed outer ring for the first time and a more detailed bottom antenna. |

I picked up a signed copy of the Haynes Thundersbird's manual and a 10 x 8 colour picture/autograph of Pam Rose from Space 1999 from Brit Sc1-Fi last Saturday.

hello folks - just got these pics from ebay
I've been looking for a decent version of the portrait shot for years - its the pic that appears in the inside cover of the first Scarlet Annual, always really liked it but never seen it anywhere apart from that annual it shows close up just how superbly made the characters were cap.jpg |

Especially when you consider that the image is probably two or three times the size of the actual puppet head.
