Surprise

Well Sky 1 is back ,all moulded and what a fantastic job , as you can see its all in one piece apart from the nose and the rocket tubes , a couple of smalls just to give the modeller something to do .
.

There's hardly any prep work to remove any flash left over from moulding , so as soon as the pattern for Eds car is finished i'll be staight on this .

The Diver section will be moulded next yr , that gives me time to assemble and paint Sky1 .

more very soon , so watch

Hi Guys

Back from the depths of wall papering , and in need of some scratch building .

Well Eds car is nearly ready for moulding , and as i mentioned last time , SKY1 was next on my hit list to finish off.

This has been a long build , but now all the moulding is finished its a case of putting the model together , so with that in mind here's todays work load .

The nose section ive added a rear wall , 4 bolts are glassed inside, and the nose has been attached to the main body , the Rear section has also been attached , all gaps have been filled with p38 filler , and now i need to cut out a small panel underside to gain access to the cockpit area , the 4 bolts sticking though from the nose cone can then be tightened up from inside .

I'll leave all the interia till last , next job rockett tubes .

Hi Guys

Weapon rocket pods assembled and fitted to the uderside wing slots .

I must admit i could have used a another pair of hands here trying to keep everything parallel to the main fusalge , using a large set square , with the model resting on a large wooden box the pods were offered up to the model until they were parallel and then tacked glued .

Resin was then poured around the joints , and now its a case of p38 car filler and sanding .

Here's the up todate photo's along with some photo's of the other ufo hardware .

Just in time for you guys to have a good read over the week end .

Hi Guys

Managed to do a little bit more this morning on SKY1 , its getting chilly out there .

The top fin detail parts have been firmly glued in place , i also scratch the behind , so the glue has something to bite into , the same for the detail part im going to glue .

I have also cut an opening beneath the cockpit area , so i can start the detail inside as well .

Hi Guys

Here's a look at SKY 1 latest update , over the last couple of days ive been adding the main fusalage detail, its taken a little time as ive had to cast some parts up as ive gone along.

There's a couple of domes left to glue to the wings ,and then the large strips that are above the rocket pods that are glued to the top side of the wings .

Main windows next , sanding and then its the interia i might even give it a light spray in plastic primmer .

Hi Guys

last wk end i filed the cockpit windows on SKY 1 to there full size , and sanded all the inner edges , then two plastic card detail strips were glued to the top side of both wings .

Next job to pattern up the cockpit instrument panel, the first thing was to take a few ref photos straight from the screen on the tv , the first thing i noticed was where have i seen that before , answer on the Intercepter , im sure they used both panels on both interia shots but with different canopy glass, the problem was the panel i built for the intercepter is a lot bigger even though they are in scale , so i had to resort in scaleing down a new pattern , so that it would fit into SKY 1 , here's how it turned out useing , alot of old bits and pieces , and some good old p38 , once glued inplace and painted should look the part .
Next job is the pilot seat and inner roof detail .

Hi Gang

Well today looked as though it was going to be a cold one today , so i decided to do some work on SkY 1 indoors , with out the wife around to nag .

First thing was to put in the rear bulk head wall behind the cockpit seat area , as you can see the bulk head doesn't go all the way to the bottom , as i might even though you want see it , add in side channel detail , to show how the pilot manages to get from the Diver section to SKY 1 .

Next job is to milliput the cockpit wals so they are smooth , and add cushin trim to head lining and then add wall instrument detail etc before painting .

Hi Guys

Still battling away , at SKY 1 here's an update .

The Interia just needs a couple of side consoles either side of the main seat just to make it look a bit more intresting, ive also started prep work on the
main body , the model has been sprayed top side with high build yellow filler , any imperfections filled and sanded , now ive sprayed plastic grey primmer on top .

The model will be given a couple of sandings inbetween while improving the finish .
A caopy casting is also having the window area's filled ready for vacforming , and the windows can then be cut out and fitted to the cockpit window openings .

The cockpit seat is also built , im just waiting on some parts im looking to put a surprise in the cockpit , if it works I'll spill the beans soon .

The wing tips a small holes has been drilled either side , so lighting can be added a red grain of wheat bulb will be inserted and connected later .

Brass inserts have been added to the 4 front side small jets ? things these can then be screwed on .

Also more wing detail added small domes etc .

Hi guys

Just in time for the wk end , too keep you all glued to the screen.

The last couple of days as the weather has been so damp , i decided to work on the pilot figure and the pilots seat .

Milli put was applied to the figure, and worked to replicate the jacket worn , also the helmet .

The pilot figure was then lightly sanded and primmed , a few air bubbles in the legs then were refilled , and the top half painted and visor added , l'll paint the bottom section next wk .

The seat again was built up using my moulds from the Luna module .
thats it for this wk

more next wk
