Just thought I'd ask cuz people collect the weirdest things, does anyone want my Halcyon Nostromo box before I sling it in the bin ?

That's a spooky coincidence, we are looking to adopt a cat.

Can't wait to see this finished, it already looks good in sections so built it's going to really hit the mark.

The Nostromo main section is in Vinyl if I remember - how well did it go together?
and looks as if "mother" self destruct went well - here's hoping its mended soon
And the cats are fine - I mean Jonesy survived!

A few days in drydock and she's good as new.

That looks fantastic!
I have heard of this kit before but never saw a good build up of it- for some reason I was expecting less and courser detail considering the media.

Well Done!

The last probe/antenna finished shown next to the kit part. A slight improvement I think.

I think I'm going to call this finished now.
Special thanks to Pro Mod for helping with the decals.

Has gone back together really well - a bit of a background on the base photos would really set it off

Default WOW!

Hi all, I'm new to this forum, I found it while looking for reference pictures for my recently ordered Halcion Narcissus (I want to pimp it with plenty of details, lights and an interior).
This model of the Nostromo is superb - beautiful, beautiful work. More pics would be a treat.

When I was a wee lad in love with sci-fi modelling, the only Nostromo kit available was a crude garage resin kit from the USA, and that cost a week's wages in the original Forbidden Planet.
I built all the Halcion kits and never saw the Nostromo anywhere! Seeing this thread I went straight to ebay and nearly fell off my seat when I saw the price - 200! That's a lot of pocket money, but seeing this build has made me determined to pick one up before they become extinct. Wish me luck.

I have one of those 'orrible questions everyone hates, so I hope you'll forgive me: I've hunted out, looked at and zoomed in on every picture of the Nostromo and I can't find the location of the Narcissus launch bay (garage). There are some fantastic CAD drawings including two bays, but I can't find anything on the original studio models of the Nostromo or the refinery ship that resembles the model of the launch bay area used in the movie.
Am I a modelling pedant who needs to put this search behind me and accept 'artistic licence' in the movie industry? or am I going blind after spending too many years fiddling with detail under the influence of solvents in a poorly ventilated workroom????
Many thanks

Default Stunning.....

These finished photographs really capture that grimy, worn out and absolutely realistic look of a well-worn Nostromo. All credit to you for getting her to this stage. Those could almost be shots of a model used in the film. The down lighters are fantastic. I was on holiday when this was posted, so apologies for late response - well done!!

Kindest regards

Patrick

FANTASTIC work on the Nostromo Neo , that's the best one I've ever seen !

And Warp(ed)9 , I was always of the assumption that the launch bay never actually featured on the studio model , due to the model(s) being built before the shooting script being finalised ( I remember reading this years back , maybe in the "Book Of Alien" ) but I could be wrong . And I DO remember coming across the Halcyon kit , but the extortionate price ( about 50 ) put me off ! Welcome aboard , by the way .

Some nice shots of the Narcissus in her Nostromo garage here, though I am still looking for overall shot: https://alienseries.wordpress.com/2013/02/04/narcissus/

Default Narcissus in Nostromo garage

Okay, here's two photos I found on Martin Bower's own website- the first shows the relative placement of the Narcissus 'garage' under the Nostromo's starboard 'wing' between the main body and it's engine on that side...

The second is the garage's 'shroud' as it pulls away.

HTH.

Thanks HTH, I've seen those pictures, but when you look at the Nostromo models themselves, there are no signs of the garage.
Forgive me, I'm working on a model and getting bogged down (obsessed) with detail. It's a curse.
I hope everyone had a good Christmas.
