I haven't gotten to tour Bob's collection, yet.

I did get an Ackermansion tour, back in 2001, WOW. Uncle Forry was quite the showman.

Default Ackermansion....

Hi Guys,

Ahhhh the nostalgia, I also was lucky enough to get a personal guided tour from Forrest during my time in the USA. I did exactly what he suggested, looked in the LA phone book, called him up and we spent a whole afternoon there.

He took a real shine to my wife and made us feel so welcome. I'm afraid I went all fan during the visit and actually had weak knees and dizzy spells during several moments.

Wouldn't you? Original props like:
3 - 4 foot Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues under the Sea
2 foot George Pal Martian War Machine from War of the Worlds
Cylon Trooper costume from the Battlestar Galactica Movie, on & on, so much stuff....

I was overwhelmed, he pulled stuff out so I could photograph things better, he let me hold one or two pieces, just an amazing guy. He teased me a bit about the use of the word "Brilliant!". Apparently I said this once or twice moving around his house.

His fax machine was printing stuff the whole time we spent in his office, he showed me an invitation to a German Sci-Fi Convention which he had attended in the past. Sadly his wife had died only a year before and he just didn't have the heart to go without her. She was hurt during a mugging attempt in Italy he told me. I was all for offering to escort him and help him go but reality bites.

I have never forgotten my time with him, he was one of the most endearing people I have ever met. I will find my photos and put a montage here when I get the chance.

Sleep tight mate.
