Default Enquiry re visit to Las Vegas, Nevada in May 2010

Hi all,

I know this is an extremely long shot but here goes anyway.

The missus and I will be in Las Vegas between 09 - 16 May. Does any of the congregation here happen to know of any places in the area/state which might possibly be of interest to a 1960s Gerry Anderson/James Bond/UNCLE fan/collector...? Any oldish stores/toy fairs/museums/displays etc?

Thanks very much in advance for any useful information.

Kindest regards

If you're willing to travel a bit, the Harrah collection in Reno is one of the best motor museums in the States. North of Las Vegas, but still in Nevada. Never been, but would if I was in the area !

Hi

one of the hotels on the main part of the strip has a car museum on the top floor, amazing collection well worth seeing.

The second tip is go to to the Elvis museum and watch the live shows......same thing you get in the big hotels but only about twenty seats and close up!

Third tip go to the old strip and watch the light show then go for a coffee or beer in the
speed cafe with record cars bolted to the walls and roof. Very 1950's.

Have fun

You are going to find little Andersonesque stuff in the US, let alone Vegas.

The closest to anything Anderson you will find in Vegas is a hooker with a purple wig, mesh top, and silver skirt.

Sorry.

Not for Anderson but...

Check out FAO Shwartz in the Caesars Palace Mall. It's a BIG toy shop.

There's also a Toys R Us in North LV

Check out the yellow pages in your hotel room for further info and maps and also small local toy/model shops. As you are 'near'to the west coast you may find Japanese import stuff slightly more common.

Guys,

Thank you all very much for kindly taking the time to post your advice/tips. I'd guessed there wouldn't be much around LV/Nevada but seeing as I was schlepping all the way there I thought I'd ask anyway. The Yellow Pages model/toy shops tip sounds like it might yield something. The SHADO Moonbase hookers sound like they might yield something else entirely...

Thanks and regards

I heard a part of the Star Trek Experience was going to reopen in Vegas, but I don't know the details.

I think you may be talking about the Imperial Palace? Most of the cars there are also for sale I believe.

Also, does the Las Vegas Hilton still have the Star Trek inspired bathrooms? While that may sound strange, I've read that it's a must see in Vegas, very authentic apparently!
