I think the price is nigh-on criminal but I haven't got any choice.

I hear ya Skipper…this is my only chance in life to own this bird at such “low” price…I only hope it will at least “look” like an Eagle. If it’s too grossly deformed I’ll just eBay the darn thing…

GOOD LUCK!! I keep my fingers crossed for you. Hope 1. the $ will not rise or double in a year 2. it will look like an eagle. But as you say, preorder is probably the only chance to get one of these 100.

I don't have too much of an issue with the price but I need to see photos of the actual production product first and really good ones.

Apparently the "final collectible may be slightly different."
I suppose it all depends on the model they decide to recast.

TWENTY FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS... for that?

it comes with SOUND (engines, lazers, doors, etc) too, right?

i was really hoping they'd leave out the little G.I. JOE's.

eh, maybe. and that's an AWFULLY BIG maybe.

That's the PE23, folks. And the file names make it obvious to me who it is.

I greatly enjoy the design aspect of the Eagle, and had once given thought of building it out of wood, using dowel rod and such, but. . .

Then I found this site and began to learn that models, both plastic and diecast were out there to be found and built. GREAT!

I'm sorry, but for me, $2500 for a model, no matter what the size, is a bit outside of my price range. Even being single and not having to run anything by a spouse.

For those that have the $$$ and want to get it, all I can say is PICTURES - PICTURES - PICTURES. This way we can all get a little enjoyment.

Is this a bargain price or would it be less if one bought an Eagle piece by piece ?

Cool The 1612 overture....

Eclipse raises a good point.

I think Chris Potter's 44" Eagle is magnificent and about the same price but could I get the same result self building?

It's a difficult call whether to pre-order 1612 44" Eagle unseen. I am sure if I did I could resell it without many problems but by that time we would know the contents of the box and a real assessment of it's accuracy and quality which could mean a big price drop.

Personally I think you could learn from their own track record. The 23" model was originally priced at £399 and dropped to £250 in some places it is still available at this sort of price. If we see this level of depreciation with the 44" just after I had bought one....

In the final analysis you could still build a spectacular model for this sort of money using components already on the market, Chris Potter is the latest to prove this. However the real question is could you build a 1612 quality model for a good deal less? At least you get to choose what accuracy level and version type along the way.

Generally I like the models from the PE/1612 stable the form and quality are a lot better than the average mass produced items - this is in no small part due to the choice of masters (ask several members here about that).

It's a lot of money and you will be looking at it for a long time - consider carefully guys.
