Wow...that's new to me...thanks for posting! It looks pretty cool but I still think I prefer the "classic" Eagle. Im not keen on the engine bells on this one for a start.

Me neither, but it's the first time I've seen a serious attempt at a proper revamp. Top marks from me.

Does anybody else know of any feasible reworkings?

Wow .... that's really well done. I like this Eagle design very much.
For me this one could be the Transporter in Space:2099

Thanks for posting this link

I can't say I'm a fan of this design myself.

Dito. I think it is not even a design. Maybe an exercise...

A very modern day design for sure. Two points that immediately hit me though;

1. View ports - They seem to be too big, but I did like the auxillary view ports behind the main ones.

2. Entry/exit ramp - The ramp in the bottom of the command module seems to be a bit redundant with the two large entry ports on the passenger module (double decker passenger module at that).

The ship seems to be WAY too big, or too spacious, to be believable now. Much like the Enterprise from TNG with lots of wasted space. The current Eagle was a bit cramped compared to this new design.

I do like the design and with the folks here, I'm sure we could get something out for the remake of S99.

Even if this is only a design exercise, it's a very impressive entry! I note the tubular truss has become angular .. and all that glass up front makes me miss the "Gemini" look of the classic command pod.

Hmmm... sort of the JJ Abrams treatment to the Eagle. Which brings a horrifying thought, JJ decides to "reboot" Space:1999. Presumably requiring a title change. I'll leave most of the casting decisions to your imagination, though I'd can't help think of Helena Bonham Carter playing, naturally, Dr. Russell.

But what would the eagle look like if some other director got ahold of the property. In the hands of a Chris Nolan or Mssr. Cameron.

Looks a bit like Starcruiser (at least the CM)

Not a huge fan, but not too bad. Like jockdeboer, I think JJ could go a great job with Space 1999.

Where I did like JJs work on Alias, Lost and the new Star Trek, I disliked his Mission Impossible (really a terrible movie) and I also dislike the Enterprise which was designed for the new movie. The saucer section and the engines just don't fit visually.

Re-imagine an Eagle should not just mean, using as many hexagonal shapes as possible to copy Syd Meads style. Also, the original Eagle looks like it could work - the re-imagined Eagle we are talking about, isn't.

Default crushed can???

Being perfectly honest it looks as though an eagle has had something really heavy set upon it and its just flattened!

I remember seeing it before as well. Doesn't do anything for me. I think the reason there's a forum like this is because of the amazing beauty and elegance of the Eagle. It really doesn't need improvement. As a "different take" on the design it's well-crafted but rather plain or generic looking.

I agree about the JJ Enterprise. To me it looks like a 5 year old who is into hotrods drew a picture of the original Enterprise and then JJ's modelers used that as their design.

I actually like it. If S1999 got a reboot or GA animation rework like the new Scarlet you could well get an Eagle like this.

One of the things thats better is the vastly improved visability on the CM.

Having said that I can understand how purists would hate it.
