Default Feedback on site performance

Hi guys,

Its coming up to a week since we put in place tweaks and fixes for the slow site performance some members were seeing, Therefore I would like to know how the site is performing for everyone at the moment.

Please vote against the closest option to your view of the sites performance the last few days, and if you have any specific input please post in the thread.

Cheers,

Chris

I am finding it a bit erratic truth be told, page loading can be quick at times and very slow (to not being able to get any pages open at all) at other times. It does not seem to matter what part of the day I try to or how many members are logged on at the time either.

For me its not been as bad since the last maintenance down time, but overall performance is not as good as it was before the move to the new server.

Sorry to say the same as everyone else, most frustrating when I get the "site may have moved to a new server" message I start worrying it's my internet link but then find other pages fine.

You may have DNS cached entries that are still pointing to the old host IP. Try giving it a jolly good flush!

ipconfig /flushdns

Yes this is a good idea, as i have not seen any of these issues, and funnily enough I do flushdns quite often (its amazing how much it can fix)

Cant hurt for people to try whilst we look into this

To Flush DNS on a windows PC

-go to start / windows button bottom left

-type CMD into the search bar

-open the program called CMD

-in window that opens, type "ipconfig /flushdns" (without the quotation marks)

-once done try the forums again

- let us know if it makes any difference

Hope this helps

Had real problems even getting onto the site this morning. As others have said, it seems to be an intermittant problem - hence very difficult to track down!

Been running great here, since you blokes went to bed!
Could it be a "volume of use" issue?

Really bad when I first logged on at 7am this morning - wouldn't even bring up some pages. Got better after about 10 minutes...

This is my second attempt at posting - just got a 'Can't display the webpage' message.
The site is really slow - reminds me of dial-up some ten years ago.

It's just taken 3 minutes to load this page! I got 'Connection was reset' message. I guess it timed out. First thing this morning though, it was really fast.
