HI there , I always do this if ive bought an item ( i know sad) but it does really improve the look when displaying. I make sure i place plain thin card or paper over the box first esp when dealing with waxy finished boxes or the direct heat will take the shine off or even melt it, also make sure the box is totally flat so that nothing can get snagged on the iron and rip or cause more creases. Hope this helps

hi - so would the steps be:

1 - use lighter fuel to dissolve the glue and open and flatten out the box

2 - put the box face down on a piece of clean paper on the ironing board with another sheet of paper on top of it

3 - give it a cheeky iron, not too hot but with a bit of steam..?

that sound about right..?

I havnt steam ironed a box before personally i was worried about water stains being left, ive never had the guts to dissolve glue either but its sounds a good idea, I just fold out all the flaps and iron it still all in 1 piece.
