I recently went to a sci fi event at a Helicopter Museum.
With all that barbed wire fencing, helicopter hulks, hanger doors and naff security gates I couldn't help myself! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and a very quick photoshop! ![]() Pleased to report that the majority of attendee's recognised the costume and knew the programme it was from, amazing! Are those original? I always wondered what that late series logo on the front of the helmet was, you can't really make it out in the show....

I knew he was a 'droid. Any tooling left for the trooper mask? Since I'm buying guns, I might as well look at the full course. Any sources for the coverall? I have a helmet I built in the '80's, but looking at these it's obviously too big.... |

LOL, I think it would take far too much silicone to make a replica of me!
Thank you for the kind words, except Kevin's!!! Quote:
It's all replica, but I think it is pretty much as close as you are going to get to the originals. Helmet: Replica face plate cast from an original, climbing helmet cast from original, badge logo cast from original (?) Rest of helmet made using same materials as the originals, including the tea strainer! I believe the light diffuser plastic for the outer rings is going to be one of the biggest problems with regards to making replicas. Gun: Replica, see other thread, looks like you'll all have one soon! Cross belts: Made using ordinary leather belts, I use three in total I think. Gloves: Many types of gloves seemed to be used throughout the series, I prefer the look of the 'gauntlet'. Boots: These are 'Derry' boots, you can still obtain them fairly easily, ebay and the like. They are not exact matches to those I have seen on screen, but certainly close enough. I do not think you can get the screen used type anymore. (They had a molded (?) stitch/laces down the front) Coverall: Belstaff motorbike waterproofs, ebay may be your best bet for these, ebay and patience!!!! Chest pocket logo: Cut Vinyl, glued to breast pocket. I didn't make the replica of the helmet or the gun, drop me a pm and I can hopefully point you in the right direction of the one who did, if they agree to be identified. Thanks again for the great comments, I would dearly love to see a squad of Federation Guards together some time, we could take some truly amazing photos then! Cheers, Andy ![]() |

Also, please contact mask seller, very interested in a mask off the original. |

The Belstaff Trialmaster and the similar one on eBay at the moment are wax cotton (like Barbour jackets), not nylon (which is the sort you want).
There are quite a few black waterproof suits that would "do", the only problem is that a lot of them have big logos or fluorescent stripes or patches on them, not the best start for a Federation guard costume. The "blackest" modern suit I have seen is the Spada Eco - design-wise it's close to the old Belstaff ones, and I have seen various photos of it with either a very small or no logo. The only major change would be to put some fake "poppers" on the front, as it fastens with Velcro. |

Here's an example auction for the Spada Eco suit I mentioned - it's got the correct collar and a pocket in the right place for the Federation badge.
I have added the image from the auction for reference purposes once the auction has finished. The price is £34.95. |

I got hold of a similar suit on ebay for about twenty quid. The only problem was the opening zip went from collar to right hip. Once i attached false popper buttons to the front in a straight line it looked ok. Would'nt stand up to close inspection though.

I have a real problem with nylon so i went up in the loft and got my old flame suit down from the Police 20 years ago. It may not be canon but it looks about right and theres even a pocket for the Federation logo. On a side note how come the Federation troopers never carry any extra ammo packs??? i guess co they only get to fire once

The Horizon tech manual, which im rapidly finding out, is largely inaccurate suggests 30 discharges before a new power pack is required. Im going along with your contention that the power pack is good for at least 100 discharges so a guard probably would not need to carry extra power packs as standard.
