Okay, first one done

This was kinda a fun prop to build, pretty different to anything I've done before, certainly the largest prop I've built.

Sorry about the crappy photoshopping of the background...

Next up, Laser Rifle

I just don't know how you manage to get all that together so fast...it takes me weeks to get the parts for my builds.

Well, I had most of the parts I needed before I started the thread. I ended up having to scratch-build the front grip, which I thought would be the easiest part to find

The laser rifle and the rocket gun are, I think, going to be a longer process. I have the Kaiser Shoulder support for the rifle (tthe same as the one on the heavy laser) but haven't been able to track down the toy gun, despite exhaustive searching on Ebay and Google, so I'm going to have to scratch build that and the large grips on the rocket gun

Hi Birdie

i was looking in the internet if i can find such handle (grips) like you used and i found thoose two

Similar to the Kaiser 6500 is a Chinon Sharpshooter Camera Grip

(can be seen here http://super8data.com/database/acces...amera_grip.htm)

and the small grip on the HL (on the opposite side of the Scope) looks like a Hama 5500 Camera Grip (can be seen on http://super8wiki.com/index.php/Imag...PistolGrip.JPG )

hope that helps all others who might also want to build one of those awesome Props, their cant be enough of them, or ?

Awesome detective work, sir!

The Chinon must either be a knock-off or Euro/US distributers for Kaiser?

Some of the lasers definiteley have the orange/yellow trigger, so the S1999 prop guys may well have been using the Chinon version.

Nice ID on the Hama, too, as posted earlier, mine doesn't have any badging, but that is definiteley it.

Nice looking weapon, sir! Now, please stop pointing it at me... it looks real enough that I'm nervous you'll shoot me!

This may be the one you want:

Note the shape of reciever, and location of the bolt....

Closest I've seen, but I don't think that's it. There are too many details that don't match up - the disk below the ejection port and longer receiver section on the prop being the most noticeable.

Seems to be a consensus here and by a guy on the RPF that the toy had a tripod and bullet feed.

well, I found lots of those, but they don't have that distinctive big cocking lever...The lower of the two has the big circular dingus below the ejection port too, and if you look at the close ups it appears to be the same color as the alpha laser.

What it doesn't have is that big chute in front of the ejection port. Perhaps there was a variation of this toy that had that? I have noticed that in my ebay searches there are at least 3 variations of this same toy, all with the cock-and-rattattat action.

It might be a good idea to get it, and then if everything else matches up add that bit on....

I think it would make quite a good base, but I would need to wait until one showed up in the UK.

If you look at this pic, you can see that the disc has depth and raised lines, and sits flush with the side of the receiver. On the Marx toy it looks like a stamped circle on a raised 'box' area

An update!

Having failed to find the original toy rifle, I've been beavering away on a complete scratchbuild.

The receiver and scope are made from styrene sheet, aluminium pipe and sculpted Milliput. The whole thing is filled with resin. Still need to work out some kinks here and there before putting the barrel section together and attaching the Kaiser 6500.

I hope that scope is not glued on, as it looks Bass Ackwards to me!

Great work, looking forward to seeing more of these builds!

It isn't, but the scopes in the show were seen both ways around - as above in Dragon's Domain, reversed in Infernal Machine & Testament of Arcadia.

The DD version makes more sense to me.

Oh, the wonders of continuity! (hmm, title for a S3 episode, perhaps?)

Like you, birdie, I prefer the DD configuration as it looks more realistic to have a larger lens at the front of a scope - if scope it be. It makes me think of those smallish flashlights, just wish I could think of the manufacturers name.

Still, great work. I have a lot of admiration for anyone who embarks on a scratchbuild project of such magnitude, never mind someone who has already shown they can pull it off with such wonderful work as you have already displayed with your finished piece.

fab work birdie very good indeed, out of interest, the original toy's scope was removable, so probably why it was always getting switched on the show

The laser rifle is done

I'm pretty pleased with the way this came out, probably my favourite design of the large guns from the series.
