So, what was the conclusion to the track casting Doug?
Was the Smooth-On material up to the job? I think I have a solution to the wheels.... I have found a tube that exactly matches the diameter of the TJ set, I can laser cut the sprocket as a plate to use sandwiched between two tubes. I also think I can match the ribbed wheel with a thin tyre made in RTV with a very high shure hardness. I will try to mock up what I am thinking for you to see. If you can crack the track issues we might have a winner. |

Hello All,
Thanks Stingray but I managed to buy the long Tom kit with the wheels, I appreciate your offer though. I've managed to find original kits for all parts. As to the wheels for the tracks I'm sure they can be cast rather easily, any number of resins would do a great job. Bernie, Jury is still out on the tracks. While the material seems tough enough it's a tad soft in my opinion. It would work for display purposes. Sadly the other material that was recommended only comes in 5 gallon lots for a few hundred dollars. Not a cost effective solution. Been very busy with other projects, hobby and home. I'll post an update soon. Thank you for your interest, Doug |
