Tools Spaced out!

We went to the Science Museum in London this weekend, and I took some photos of some of the space hardware on exhibit. I thought it might be useful for space modellers, either because of the specific subject or just for general reference. I have renamed the images to identify what they are, I hope I got it right!!

As always, if anyone else has any more images to add to this thread, please feel free to do so!!

Cheers,

Phil

Hi Phil,

I remember as a young kid walking around there, I was in orrr (wrong spelling I know, but feals right).

It's a wonderfull place to spend an afternoon, not just "Space" stuff but loads of other interesting things...
I've been loads of times since, but nothing matches the first time as a young kid walking in there.

Another one that did the same to me was The Tower of London, particularly the Jewel House/Vault (I was trying to find an icon for "Jaw Dropping" but couldn't find one...)

The Imperial State Crown is my personal favourite..
Here's a link to a person that may know a thing or two about this...

Don't you think that the Science Museam would be a great place for a meet up sometime.... then maybe Tower of London.... just to make me smile

Nice pics Phil, Always thought it was cool that the Science Museum has the Apollo 10 C.M. as "The Guinness Book Of World Records states that Apollo 10 holds the record for the fastest a human has ever traveled: 24,791 st mi per hour at 400,000 feet altitude (entry) on 26 May 1969. However, the Apollo 10 mission report states the maximum speed at entry was 36,397 feet per second, or 24,816 st mi per hour."

Superb images!
I visited many years ago now, and was gobsmacked by the sheer number of exhibits there.
That's the trouble with museums in London, a day's not enough time to fully explore the wonders - and then get to the pub to talk about it all.

I managed to get an hour in the SM last week. I forgot how dark it was and for some reason had the IS turned off on my camera so some of my shots ended up wobbly. I'm going again this week for a good look around.
John.

I'll have to re-upload the rest, for some reason they are losing resolution when they are posted.

It' a while since I was up there but I have a feeling that that is the Black Arrow which was Britain's contribution to the Space Race
