==============================================
==============================================

Aim:

Design and build (or just paint) a customised pod for the Product Enterprise 12" Eagle!

Use your imagination and skills to create something bizarre, ridiculous, funny, plain functional or sheer outrageous - whether it would fit into the series or not.

Rules:

• You may build a pod for any other 11/12" size Eagle model (not necessarily the PE12) but ideally it should be for (and fit) the PE.
• Scratch-built or existing model kit parts may be used. You may use any material at your disposal.
• The Pod can either be made soley by the entrant or by collaboration. However, only one member may enter the pod in the contest and, if they win, will be sent the prize(s). Sharing of prizes if applicable will then be their responsibility.
• The pod can be any size and shape. The pod can be either detachable or permanently fixed. The Eagle does not need to be able to 'land' on its feet.
• The pod can be any theme (this is encouraged!) - but not necessarily Space 1999.
• Entrants may use an already posted 'theme or function' to base their entry on but do not copy directly as this is strongly discouraged. Please use personal integrity - originality may just win the day! There are some themes listed below to give you some ideas if you are stuck and you are more than welcome to discuss ideas on the forum.
• The rest of the Eagle Transporter may be painted and themed to match if desired.
• If you don't fancy your chances with a scratchbuild, why not just do a novel paintscheme for the pod?...
• Multiple entries (variants) are permitted but please list them as separate entries.
• Entry photos: a maximum width of 600 pixels and a maximum of six images - i.e. six views of the entry.
• 'Photoshopped' / digitally manipulated entries alas, do not qualify!!!

Judging:

The entries will be put to a registered member vote once the contest is over. All registered members may participate in the voting. In the event of a tie, the Admin (that's me!) will decide the winner.

Eligibility:

All registered members (even if they are sponsors), less Admin.

It's free to register with the forum so why not pile-in with your creations? You would be most welcome!

Prizes (provisional and TBC):

I might just enter, if I can get my brain cells working on something that is suitable. I need to give it loads of thought, although time scale worries at this stage is not so much of an issue.

Strangely enough, and I am not completely sure why, , the humerous side of the competition appeals to me somewhat.

I think I'll be entering a few of pods...all of which fit in to the 'believable' category.

Though as you say Tony, I'm tempted by something completely outrageous too...

I'll have to get the old grey matter working on this...

So where can I get one of the PE Eagles? How big are they and what do they cost?

I wish I had something to offer as a sponsor but I don't produce any Space 1999 stuff.

Welcome blappy.

Where can you get one? You haven't been living on a desert island for the last year have you?

Just do a search on eBay for "Space 1999" and you might find one or two. Most sci fi shops stock them.

In regards to Space 1999 I have been. I have heard about these things but never really bothered to seek one out.

As die cast "toys" go, these are better than some scale models. It's worth picking up the basic one at the very least.

Is it 1/72 scale? I can't seem to find reference to scale in any of the ebay auctions.

12" long.

Scale has always been a bone of contention. Popular wisdom says 11" is considered 1/96th but it depends how much importance you place on the interior sets. Some would argue that 12" is 1/96th.

I always worked on the injection plasic kits, (Fundimensions/Airfix/AMT), being around the 1/96th or 1/100th scale, so the PE Eagles should be virtually the same.

Being as I was always buliding dioramas with the plastic Eagles, I needed to use scale figures, so I generally used a selection of 15mm wargame figures, they are just about spot on the right size, a 15mm miniature is just about 1/96th scale.

Sorry that I haven't been very active lately ...... I'm back at school with a rather large project... plus I've switched to a mac at school ...... it also takes up some time to get used to the new keyboard and OS...
