Epic task indeed, I still ache all over, the moulding was hard enough but the worst part was getting the mould out of the garden.
But it was all very worth it. |

Wow.How many coats of paint did the body have? At first I thought it was Foster's car, from the traces of lavender I thought I saw. Realized it wasn't in the later photos. In a bit of synchronicty, I just obtained my first ever Dinky "Straker's car" via ebay only a couple of weeks ago!

I feel it had to be done, I bought my first dinky car toy of this in 1970 and had it with me when I watched the series. I couldnt rest un til I did something about it because its a crying shame what has happened to it. Now the real work begins.

This is wonderful news for us enthusiasts, tinged with sadness of course for the remains of the original car.,I suspect if the molds go in to production, it may be outside my pocket money range?, but truly, to everyone involved, well done!!.

This is fantastic news. It's a major task but at least it's being done at last and there will be something to see for the future.......maybe even cars for people to buy for themselves. Who is financing it? We all appreciate the hard work being undertaken.

An incredible shame that this masterpiece was abandoned to life as a garden ornament!
Thanks guys, for all you've done and will continue to do!! I eagerly await this Phoenix's rise from the ashes!

Bit grim to see the car in such a state, wish it could have been looked after like other bat/panther mobiles or other iconic vehicles. But glad to see work going ahead at last to produce a replica that should (after seeing the pictures)be a perfect copy of Straker's car.

I guess the plan will be to re-engineer the original body panels in fibre glass and then attch them to a new host chassis? Will you attempt to recreate the interior, or use artistic licence? Oh btw the `lavender` colour is from Doppleganger |

I'm kinda surprise at the 'one huge mould' approach...I'd have thought doing it in sections would be more manageable....

Are you going to use a Zephyr for the chassis like the original?
Thank you for taking this on board. |

Reminds me a bit of the fate of the full sized exterior mock up of the Galileo shuttlecraft from the original "Star Trek" that was left to rot for years outdoors. |

I bet the car owner has asked more than just a pint of beer and a packet of walkers crisps to allow people work around that lost treasure...

I saw the car when it had the artwork airbrushed over it. The car was basically white with spacecraft from the show painted over it. I thought it was a dreadful idea when I saw it but the owner had done it so he could take it to shows. It was his car, so I suppose he could paint it any way he liked, even though it was a ridiculous idea.

Got any thoughts as to a powertrain at this stage?it would take a lot of engineering but a actual gas turbine would be feasible.Theres a '89 Batmobile in the States with one fitted and it sounds the Nuts!! |
