Hi Sigge,

Welcome to the forum, happy you found us.

By a good fortune I have some laser cut metal skins to make a full scale R2D2 sat in my workshop. I have a metal dome and head bearing and all the current drawings from the Astromech site. All I need now is the time to build him..!

I would be very interested to see your builds and learn from what you have done.

Bernie.

Thanks for the welcome!

This is my R2-D2 I built out of Styrene and with fiberglass dome (made by "Crash")

I have also made an extra R4 dome, so I can swap between them.
I do this if there are many R2-D2:s at cons

All metal parts are mostly alu, some are still resin that will be swapped with alu eventually.

There are excellent replicas, are they motorised at all?

What parts did you use?

I will try to be calm with my questions... LOL

I have been sourcing parts slowly for a few years, a good friend helps to run the Astromech site which has a whole mine of information. The british site has good contacts for EU builders and I have been seriously thinking to resume work on mine this winter.

R2 is a favourite with my business partner, he convinced take on building one so I had to buy two sets of everything.
