Default federation officers pistols and "goon" rifles

Hey has anyone built a federation officer pistol from season 2-3? I think there were two hand props made both identical except for the fins (one had small U channels the other T tracks..the later was recycled for Sleer's pistol in season 4. Also the 'goon' fed rifles that appear I think in "Trial" or "Travis"? and continue to be seen in "Volcano" and "Hostage" to name a few(they have screwed on fins possibly from some solid square stock or MDF). Anyone seen either real hand prop for the above?

I made one a few years ago, a photo of it is already on here in Fed gun section, also another variant.

The second one was used in the season 4 story "Games".
I've slightly altered it since the photo, I've added the silver band as on the rifles.

do the original pistols exist however? the ruler laddered bit has always been a puzzle and the horizon plans seamed iffy and although all of you who have made them have done a decent job..the ladder bit is still..well off..almost looks like EMA styrene roofing from their architecture stuff. what size tubing and channeling did either of you use? how long were the original pistols? Martin bower showed on his page the 'Travis' pistol it had kit bashed parts including parts from a castle kit(?) but this doesn't match any of the screen caps I could find on any of the pistols..including the one from 'gambit' that he uses (his arm was busted, if you recall). They appear to be a different colour from the standard federation gear..more coppery..like the grips of the federation rifle used by Avon in the first episode of season 4 (can't remember the name..I know from here that THIS prop still exists though!) I think Andy has the relevant pics...
