Default greeblies on the Liberator and space command

Has anyone catalogued the greeblies on the Liberator? I swear there are tank hubs from a tiger tank kit on the rear body bit. I noticed the same shapes on space command, and given it's similar colour scheme I suspect they were worked on by the same modelers. Anyone know what bits were on space command?

Cue Exterminator and his amazing knowledge of the BBC Liberator props.

We have several members who have built replicas.

Exterminator has a good thread as follows:

He has built a replica of the big Liberator too.

Hi there!

I have attached some close-ups of the detailing as seen on the "refurbished" Liberator model by Martin Bower. A lot of it is plasticard of various thicknesses, as well as tape and paper labels. The parts I've marked with a big red asterisk are from the Dapol (ex-Airfix) Girder Bridge kit (Dapol's kit no. C003), still available and costing about 7.00 each (I think you need three or four kits for the Liberator).

There are a few bits about which I have no idea what they were originally from, namely the various wheels and those big red things! I think for my replica, I chopped up some Airfix 1:72 Harrier wheels, as they were reasonably close, and for the red things, I made a master and cast four in resin.

Anyway, have a look at these photos, and if you like, I will pop up some photos of my build.

I haven't had a good close at Space Command, but I wouldn't be too surprised if there were Girder Bridge bits on it ... they got everywhere!!

Phil

I'd love to see some pics of your Liberator build.
A studio scale reproduction has been on my 'to do' list for some time now, they may give me the inspiration to move it to the top of the pile.
Do you have any more pics of Martin's lib ? i have lots of Mat's but these are the fist detailed shots i've seen of Martin's & 'clean' images would be very useful to my proposed build.

Well, I only know that because Andy ('Clanger68') told me ... and I was preparing to scratch-build and cast them. That saved me about 3000 years on the build (slight exaggeration)!!

Whoops, I forgot all about adding the Liberator build images I promised!

The images I have attached are only a tiny fraction, it took me just over a year to build it, and I must have taken loads of photos. There is a complete build thread over on the Horizon forum (not sure if you have to be a member to view it), this shows the whole thing from start to finish. Please note that this is a reconstruction of my original thread, the original Horizon site got hacked, and the thread was "lost". A lot of my waffle and "funny" jokes are therefore not present ... which might be a good thing!!
