Default Motion Control Liberator Model

Hi

Does anyone know what happened to the Liberator model used in the opening teaser to Kevin Davies' Making Of The Hitchhikers' Guide To The Galaxy?

Yeah, it was. I like to call it the Cotton-Eyed Joe model. Where did it come from, where did it go?

It was a model made by Paul Holroyd, who also did the B7 Tech manual.

Saw this model in competition at one of the early 80's Model Engineer Exhibition's at Wembley Conference centre, very impressive.

It was also the Liberator that flies over the audience in the edition of 'Tonight With Jonathan Ross' that featured the B7 cast. 'Come on, when was the last time I forgot a starship flying over the audience?' as Mister Ross asked the floor manager during the rehearsal!

Thank you, chaps. Is it the same scale as the big studio model? Do you know if it still exists?

Hi guys,

Paul's is a very nice model.
It's not as big as the large studio model, about two thirds the size, for example the green ball (engine) at the back should be 8 inch in diameter, but Paul did his 6 inch. I asked him why he'd done it that size, and he said that he did it that way cos 6 inch was the largest clear dome that EMA do.

I havent seen it for a while, but I think it's still around.

Thanks folks. I remember seeing the opening shot for the Hitchhikers video, and my geeky Liberator-loving heart skipped a beat. It looked huge. I want one. I want a motion control rig. It's not fair.
