Default Blakes 7 Liberator hand gun.

Hi all

I'm in the process of making four Liberator guns complete with holsters and belts etc for me and my partner. I always wanted one of those as I think they look really interesting and in particular very futuristic. I just wondered if anyone was interested in my progress so far, and any advice is greatly appreciated. I have very little to work from except helpful information found here and by referencing images online etc.

Dude I don't think you require any advice looking at those images. Welcome here. Looking real good so far, you clearly read up on your subject. If stuck for the bell push then Phil is the man (Exterminator on here), probably has about 50 in his garage

Thanks for the warm welcome Slate.

Thanks for the bell push advice but I'd already acquired some from a company called we sell electrical.

I think they are coming on okay, see the latest photos. Final assembly soon followed by finishing the holsters and battery box etc. I will update with more photos as work progresses.

Cheers.

Hi Slate

I can't message you for some reason and so will post a reply here.

I will probably be selling two of them when finished. I'm not sure what price I'll sell them for and was going to decide when I've completed them all. They'll come with the belt, holster and battery box. The guns will light up and make the firing sound, the LED should dim slowly when the button is released which will be cool.

When complete I'll give you first refusal or they'll end up on Ebay. I want one and so does my partner, why just make two when I can make four.

Glad you like them, thanks for the interest.

Hi Ham Salad

Glad you like them and I'll also keep you in mind when they're finished.

The sound module is a small audio recorder that i'll record the sound effect onto from the BBC scifi sound effects LP. I'm not sure how successful this will be but I'll give it a go.

I should have the guns assembled this evening and will post a picture of them all complete.

Thanks

Thanks T.F.U.

I've enjoyed it a lot so far :-)

Nearly finished them, here's one powered up and it looks pretty cool.

I can't wait to get a photo of all four when they're finished together.

Cheers.

Hi

A photo of all four, and the internals of one gun. I think they look cool and it'll be a shame that some will need to go - I'd like to keep them all lol!

Does anyone have some detailed photos of the holsters, the leather work is a bit confusing. Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Wow they are just beautiful ! Did you figure out the audio as yet ?

As for the holster, this isn't an original but another fine replica, it may help ?

Thanks for the compliments, I think they look good. They are made using information found on the forum and as far as I can tell they are made in a similar way to the originals. Even used grey nylon which was a pain to find.

The acrylic tube for the ring section was also a pain to find, I had to return one length as it was not the correct 6mm wall thickness as needed!

Ebay was the source of the original drill handle (complete with drill lol), so they have the correct type cast replica handles. I've been fairly fussy with regard to the guns, but will be less so with the holster etc as these I think varied.

And thanks a lot Slate for posting the belt and holster photo, I appreciate it. Any information you have (Ham Salad/Slate) would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Creator, I will be selling two but unfortunately I already have two people interested, thats not to say they will sell, but they have first refusal. If you PM (so I don't forget), I'll give you the option if the potential sales don't go through.

Thanks everyone for the interest, and the kind comments and help.

Default A call to arms.....

These look absolutely fantastic. When Blake's 7 burst on to our screens, the BBC took the opportunity to furnish our heroes with all kinds of alien technology, these weapons included. You've recreated a small but vital part of the Seven's armoury, and you should be very pleased with your efforts. Well done indeed!

Kindest regards

Patrick

Thank you so much The Creator and Patrick :-)

It was an interesting build and necessary, as I really wanted one. Like most people who are fans of Blakes 7, I really wanted a Liberator gun. Having no way of obtaining one, then I had to make one.

They are I think the coolest looking scifi weapon, and a credit to those who designed and built the original props. They look not only futuristic, but also alien - a difficult thing to achieve I reckon!

I wish I made more and may do one day, it's just having the time. There were lots of man hours that went into the four I've built.

I'll keep everyone updated with progress of holsters etc.

Thanks.

Only ever had a small problem with their concept/use on screen. The guns were in the wrong place, why have them on the flight deck ? Logically I'd have thought they'd have been stored in the teleport area along with the bracelets or in an armoury. The single isomorphic response idea was cool but they never explored it beyond that one scene and having them all on display showed us they only had about a maximum of 6 and maybe one or two fake handles. They were a very cool gun however and would easily stand up in a modern day sci fi.

Absolutely fantastic Waran2005! If only you'd made about five more!

I love those guns (the originals and Waran's). Even the sound as they were holstered was beautiful.
