Default LEGO Eagle on LEGO ideas

Hello, I found a project on LEGO ideas for an Eagle. It really seems to have captured a good scale look of the ship. It also uses some very unusual build techniques to create the model.

You can see the project at https://ideas.lego.com/projects/119421

Its been made my someone with the LEGO_ID of King_Arthur, check out the above link to see is versions of the passenger and winch - he's even duplicated the Dinky cargo module.

Its doing quite well and has over 1000 supporters but LEGO set an almost impossible target of 10 000 supporters before they will consider making it in to a set. To support you do need to make a LEGO ID but you have an option in preferences to make sure you dont get any SPAM from LEGO.

Not part of the project but I've had a go at making Heavy lift Booster, rescue and VIP pods and a re-entry glider, all of which I'll be making if this becomes a set. If you like the project please support and spread the word with your friends. Thanks for your time.

Thanks to Grantpassmore to show my work here.

Bricks made by Lego give this great opportunity to concretise quickly and easily the fleet of our dream.

May be unusual for this forum specialised in reproducing scale models from Anderson's Tv Show, however the bricks are still a good choice for spreading our interest in Moonbase Alpha Universe among the younger generation.

And above all, if this model is produced by Lego company, as several before (like Back to the future movie or Ghostbuster) it might be sold with a collector book about the Tv Show.

I put here for teasing one of the pictures I will show in the Dragon's Domain.

Default A few more extras for the Lego Eagle

Just one more thing. The reason I like this Lego Idea is because of the potential it has if LEGO make the basic Eagle as a set. Either as offical addon sets or simply something when people could post building instructions and people buy the bits needed. Here is a further selection of extras - As always this is King_Arthur's idea which I have adapted or just straight copied. (note that this has been designed using LEGO software and not all parts may be avialable in the colours shown - LEGO allow this because if a set goes into production they just put the different coloured plastic in the machine)

One other reason I believe the idea should be supported is that its a realistic proposition, the part count is within the normal set sizes. The only real question is if there is a big enough market for an old TV show...if it get to 10000 supporters that a good indication that it will sell.

Wow..Lego Eagles!.

Back in the 70's, a friend of mine built one out of standard lego bricks. It was a bit of a monster and it had an 'Immunity Syndrome' crash down the stairs..lego bricks everywhere

I had the dinky green Eagle in 1975 and used it for a base model and upscaled it to about 22-24 inches long and built it out of lego. It had the full interior (with sliding doors) and the passenger pod and command module were detachable. It was blue (my main lego colour) but the problem was I had to make the command module larger then scale in order to have the interior so it looked weird. I did a few 'Eagle crashes' myself. I remember building it at least 2x during my build period (among alot of numerous sci-fi models). My last model in 1985 was a 1:8th scale KITT (I still have parts of it in storage).

Default In with the bricks.....

I've only just stumbled across this thread.....these Eagles are utterly beautiful, and the pod variations and other accessories are just as good. Really imaginative use of one of the best toys ever created.

Thanks for posting these pictures,

Kindest regards

I am in the process of building a model Lego Eagle transporter to Lego mini figure scale... I think I am looking at nearly a meter long...

Check out www.legoeagletransporter.com for more images and a write-up.

I love the spirit of the guys supporting this project, but the only real pull is going to be Lego fans rather than the 1999 brigade I suspect, as compared to the Round 2 model Danny above just posted the link too, why would you want a Lego version? Even it was half the price it would still be a toy? I can see the true collectors buying a few but can't ever seeing it reaching the wider ranging market that the Round 2 model caters for. Still - good luck with the project, I am happy to be proved wrong if you do manage to bring this to fruition!
