Default 44" Bells and Engines

Haven't posted for a while, what with travelling with work and family holidays and so on.

I have done some work with the bells - getting into CAD and running a print on my B9creator. They came out well.

I don't really want printed bells or resin parts but I am thinking about putting a silicone tool down for these.

What I really want is aluminium....anyone got a CNC lathe I can borrow! I am not turning these by hand! For reference the main bell is approximately 75mm diameter and 75mm long (from memory).

I miss the old days where there were lots of builders making parts and upgrades.

Bit of tool making (prefect size vac tank!).

Fingers cross for inhibition free rubber and air free resins later this long weekend (UK holiday Monday coming up - I know what I will be doing).

Just a bit of fun playing with a new (to me) app.

Some photos.
The tool worked out good.
The resins too. One for luck.

How are you going to paint the engine bells? Plain silver or are you going to try and get a chrome finish?

Hi Taz

I am thinking of the Alclad paints. www.alclad2.com
I saw a great job using a range of "heat temper" colours on an Eagle bell at a show. My trouble; I have never done anything like this - the brass work / machining is closer to my comfort zone.

I purchased a CNC lathe; I don't know why; except to make some bells, I could have just bought bells! It is small, not so expensive and second hand. Just need to do a bit with the electronics to run it from a PC. I guess I just want to make as much as I can (all of it) myself.

I might not need the resins but once I start something; I like to see if I can do it / finish it.

Julian

A couple of extra silicone tools for the VTOLs.
Still haven't got that CNC machine working yet.
