Default Small Ultra Probe correct dimensions?

Hi There,

Ok so Martin Wileys site states that the 2.5ft Ultra Probe is 84cm in length.
I'm getting ready to build a copy (as close as possible with removeable beak capsule) and I can't see how this is the correct length; as I can't calculate it any smaller than 3ft or 92cm.

I'm happy to be corrected if anyone has better information?
I'm going off kitparts, the correct egg cups (they took sone time to find i can tell you) and the EMA catalogue.

I want my model to be as accurate as it can be so am happy to be proved wrong if I am?

Any help gratefully recieved

Hector

Maybe its 84cm when the CM is detached, hence the confusion?

Thats a great theory and I thought it could be this as well?
Makes a lot of sense and 8cm is a pretty good length for the CM.

Unless anyone has better information. I think it's going to have to be the answer.

It's between 81 to 82CM long with the CM Installed. I measured it.

Right: now I'm really confused.

This info doesn't even match the Catacombs stated length of 84cm!

Can anyone out there clear this up?

I'm sorry I just don't buy it. I can't get it to that length using the kit parts identified or anything in the EMA catalogues (past or present). I know for example that the girders are 2.4mm diameter. They have to be as the smallest U channel fits 2.4mm and this size matches the 8 wheel red, B29, Saturn V and Belfast kit bits.

So what am I missing guys?

Well, for a start the girders and 1/16" (1.6MM). EMA Pipe sleeving is used over them, not U channel. That's available for 1/16" tube, as are the Snap On Tee pieces.

Ok; that's making more sense. I'd better re-check the images on Catacombs. I was sure that U channel was used around the girder sections on the forward tanks and the neck area.
i might however have got this wrong?
