Default Full-size Captain Scarlet cap

Hi everyone

Here are some shots of my finished life-sized Captain Scarlet cap - I'm really pleased with it

I didn't make it myself but I project managed the job and specified how it was built - I did the badge artwork too.

I've had loads of fun working on this - as you can probably guess from the epaulettes I am doing the whole suit - happy days!

cheers
Mike

thanks chaps - yep a lot of effort went into getting the shape right

its not a literal 3x up replica, we streamlined it a little bit as I felt a straight scale replica - which looks cool on a puppet - feels a bit big and clunky on a real person

that is beautiful! as a kid i used to run around in my dads train drivers hat which the design seems based on. meaning i always had to be "captain black"
i would have killed for a version as gorgeous as that!

hi thanks for posting that pic its great - is that your dad's actual cap..?

yes I can see the similarity - funnily enough now that I have a full-size one it had ocurred to me it might be partially based on a roman centurion helmet, mainly the way it drops down at the back

I think the side panel bits were added so that they could fit the mechanism that makes the microphone drop down..?

got to say though the train-drivers hat does look very like it, or vice-versa

hello mate - no I didn't do the gold effect, I just did it a flat colour

I can send you a spare if you like, it might look ok on the C21 cap - I too have one of those with the badge missing (it always is!)

That would be good m8,cheers ------------incidentally,the ideal badge for the Century 21 cap is the badge on the Century 21 Scarlet wallet as they are exactly the same.

Hey Mike, your PM box is full, according to the board software. Anyway, any chance you could re-up the picture and share some of the construction details? I'm in the planning stages of building my own, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

hello mate - I replied a couple of days back via PM but I'm not sure it worked

my inbox is not full, there is something up with my account

I'll stick some pix up tomo

the cap was all done by eye

main shape sculpted in clay and then rubber cast - visor cut from perspex and line bent to make tabs - mic turned on lathe - mic trim steel hand bent and glued on - cap trim pittards leather - badge created by me in photoshop and printed and circle cut by machine

happy days

And I didn't get a notification that you'd posted back. Flakey board software.

Anyway, looking forward to your photos. Sculpting and casting is a little out of my field, I'm planning on using a square cap as a base and building it up out of EVA foam.

Very nice! Does the mic arm work?

And I notice some other goodies on your shelves. That Stingray looks pretty big!
