Default New Contest?

Seems like we've strayed from some of the fun stuff for which we all come to this place. So...

How about a new contest? I would put up a little cash or offer some oddball things from my collection as prizes. I never finished my heavy lift pod for the last contest, so I really want to get my act together and do something for the next one.

Anybody up for this?

I'm always up for a contest but we don't yet have a large enough membership (that attracts large suppliers/prize donors)...

We got lucky last time.

A contest might be a way to draw a wave of new members. I bet we could get some interesting prizes together just from member donations.

I could put up something such as, oh... a 1/144 scale Moonraker kit. And if each donor just shipped directly to the winner, the process could be simplified and money could be saved.

I think members might just like some kind of goal to work toward, even if there is no large monetary value.

Sounds good to me. Prizes need not be 'high-end' nor 'collectors items' in order to be desirable, either. Keep it simple, so that the focus is on the model building, rather than the prize(s).
Most important, HAVE FUN!

... and that's how I became a member

Hi guys,

I'm an Eagle nut since I watched Space 1999 when I was little (not to say when I was young - my wife things I'm still about 8 years old !!!).

The last Pod contest was brilliant. Some of you guys are really gifted. I can't wait to see what else you come up with.

Keep the Eagle flying ...

this sounds like a great idea! and prizes would be cool
could also have everyone chip in $5 each to get a nice 'pot'
built up and winner takes all? or have it as a gift certificate to someplace?

$5 to sponsor such a great contest - shouldn't be a problem.

your household??

This was from the 'History of the Eagle' thread in The Hanger.. may be combine this with the ideas above. I've been thinking of a design created while Commissioner Simmonds was in charge of the space program during budget cuts in the eighties, when to cut costs all the components were based on objects found in Mrs Simmonds' shopping bag...

Watch this space...

Ahhh...Mark42s won the competition already. Interesting to note that the bug had foot pads a lot like the eagle. Hmmmm

I think Mrs Simmonds was probably more likely to shop at Woolworths on the Farnham Road rather than EMA !

How about a "Pod-You-Didn't-Get-Around-to-Building-Last-Time" contest?

I like that one...we could expand it to pods or attachments of any description...and for any purpose...

So basically anything that fits where the Pod should fit on the Eagle will do, no matter if it is a Pod or not, I like the sound of that one, we should see some interesting ideas then.

Or it could also fit elsewhere on the Eagle - like the grab arm does...

Basically a pod or attachment - as long as it gets mounted to an Eagle somewhere and performs some sort of plausible function.

Hmm...
I like that!
I was just looking at my Pod-U-Almost Got To Like entry (the Probe Pod) yesterday, and realized it's very nearly complete. I should finish it up & post pics. If this new contest idea is a go, I could just place it as an entry.
The problem is, I've already posted some WIP pics of it, so I guess that disqualifies it as an entry.
No worries, I have another I could use for an entry.
Let's do it!

Though I also like the idea of Eagle predecessors or Eagle variants; different types of support craft, etc. I have a couple of entry ideas for that, too.
