Default A dedicated "Hey, I like your avatar" thread!

A lot of us have complimented each other about our avatars, especially on occasions when some of us change them, but doing so usually involves a minor threadjack. So, I thought a dedicated thread might be useful for discussing avatars.

Just to get things started...

FlyWestjet has a new one, and I noticed it seems to have a new part, namely a cat. I was wondering what's up with that? (Oh, and I like the radar dish prop he has in the background!)

Wow, well spotted. I hadn't noticed that..I didn't even know you could change your Avatar....I was wanting to do so myself. Yes, so Flywestjet, the cat?

I think the cat was added within the last 24 hours, actually. That's why I noticed it; it was blocking the lift shaft detail I'd grown accustomed to.

I'm wondering if it's some sort of pun, or if it's just there to look cool.

Sharp eyes CR, congratulations again on the well deserved promotion!

Here are the two slightly different Avatars:

Based on this picture:

.................................

And this latest one below in which my girlfriend's curious cat found his way into the shot. Actually this picture was taken several days earlier and was more of a test shot. The background pieces are in slightly different positions, the Eagles main VTOLS and forward spine rivets are not in place, and the angle doesn't work as well. But it makes for a unique avatar. Coincidentaly in this shot I used cat litter for the soil, and in the later one railway ballast; so his curiousity may have been warranted

44", but I can't take any credit on it other than being a proud owner:

Did you have some extra moon rocks after the cat had investigated the surface

Your Avatar is the best too........completely original and adorable

Thanks! She was tucked in the Eagle fleet review that has seen been deleted for clarity's sake. Her name is, coincidentally enough, Cricket and is named after the game I enjoyed watching when I lived overseas as a child:

All the credit goes to FunPod (yep... I've got an original 'FunPod' in my S99 collection!!) . He created my little cyber buddy and graciously allows me to use him. I've run a high-res version of the little hopper through my needlework program and now have the pattern and all the supplies I need to render a cross-stitch version... once I finish the current needlework project for my daughter and get my son's ERTL Eagle done!

Flywestjet, thanks for sharing your pics! That's one fantastic way to display your Eagle/S:99 collection!
I didn't realize the cat was real til I saw the larger version of the pic. Well, that and you said it was your girlfriend's cat. I thought it was a silouhette added to the avatar.
I hope you 'shoo'ed the cat to its proper litter box to conduct its 'business'!

Cricket, you mentioned finishing your son's Eagle. What, now you're doing all the work?

Tony42, your daughter is very creative! Keep encouraging that. One of my children drew a picture of an Eagle from memory last year (when he was 7) while in art class at school. I'll try to take a digital pic of it & post it soon. Which gives me an idea for a new thread... off I go to create it!

Although I wonder just where I should create it...
My idea was to have a thread showcasing the work of the next generation of Alphans, our children. Any ideas?

Nope, but if you think I am about to allow an 8 year old male to handle a can of spray paint without me in close attendance, well then, from one parent to another... you're nuts!

I am nuts, thank you very much. But no, I wouldn't let a child handle a spray paint can unattended! I'm not that nuts!

BRING BACK THE CAT!!!

A certain black feline seems to have gone AWOL from Flywestjet's avatar. If seen, please return said felidae to this thread for immediate restitution.
