Once several years back someone was doing a wonderful job of making a realistic CG eagle. I bought a mouse pad from him and it looks like Prowler's avatar. This guy sold posters like Prowler's avatar and JAG151's avatar. Does any body know what happened to the CG project?

OK, this is gonna sound pathetic but, I'm 46 years old & have NEVER owned a computer. That being said, could someone tell me what an "avatar" is? I remember an episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" called "Silicon Avatar" & always wanted to know the meaning. Anyone?

so far as I understand these things, it refers to the little picture on the left hand side of the screen under your username. JD's avatar is the little lego S99 spacesuited figure. Mine is the claymation version of Gene Hunt, beating up a nonce, from the Camberwick green opening to "Life on Mars".

Don't know how to link it, but there are guidelines and instructions for adding one on the "Posting Images and Image Posting Guidelines" in this very section.

Ok, this really isn't such a silly question. When I joined this board, I knew just about squat about all this sort of board-stuff.

Avatar= a picture representing a person on the internet.

As Weaponsmtih has pointed out, it is frequently under your board 'handle' on the left side of a post. Check out this entry for details on how to link an avatar to your account.

Go to your user CP. In the left column there's separate details for your Profile Picture and your Avatar. Put the same details/link in Avatar as you must have under Profile Picture and it will show up!
