Fun!
I particularly found the closing credits to be enjoyable.

Thanks for watching. Working on Space Rocket was probably the most fun I've had doing a production. Good people and lots of fun. The bloopers are here:

Hey, Ace, was the thingy inspired in part by Ogra from Godzilla 2000, at the end of the film when it's about to ingest the big G.? When salad-masher was about to eat the Monkey Wrench, it sure seemed like that creature.

Hmmmm. No. I've never seen Godzilla 2000, though I hear it is a classic. And this was actually made in 1994. I re-edited it 3 years ago, as it had originally been edited onto SVHS and looked like crap.

I changed one joke from 1994, which was when the captain is giving D'Terre reasons not to kill himself. The new joke is "You'll never find out what happens in the new Harry Potter book." The old joke was "You'll never find out what happens to that romantic Taster's Choice couple." Nobody would get that joke today, but back in 1994 there was a long-running series of ads for Taster's Choice coffee that started with a guy knocking on a woman's door and asking if she had coffee he could borrow. There were maybe 5 or 6 commercials that followed the couple as they grew more involved. The guy was played by Anthony Head, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer -- though he was an American in the commercials.

I remember those ads. Now that you reminded me of them, at least. Smart idea, updating the joke.

Maybe you should sue Toho for stealing your 'creature' idea. Ogra (or was it Orga?) had these sharp... things that it was using to pull Godzilla into its maw, and a large, red... organ (tongue?) that puffed up from within the mouth, ultimately opening like a flower petal to encase Godzilla's head.

(And yes, I am mimicking--not mocking--the cast of your film when they described the sharp... things, but it's such an appropriate way to describe it, I couldn't resist!)

I'll try to post some links to pics later.

That's interesting about the coffee ads as Anthony Head and Sharon Maughn did what sounds to be exactly the same sort of ads for Nescafe coffee in England.

We had extactly the same series of ads for Nescafe in Australia. It certainly roped people in all the way to the wedding.

Godzilla update: Many of the sites relating to (and having decent pictures of) the scene I described no longer exist, so my advice is to check out the movie from your local library and watch the end of the final fight scene.

Heh... heh... cough. Yeah, um, Nebraska. I have a couple of good friends from Nebraska, so I usually put a crack in about the Cornhusker state.

The second Space Rocket model is here in St. Paul. The first got a little too hot under the studio lights and actually melted -- I still have it, but it is pretty sad looking. Each is only about 8 inches in length, so I needed a lot of light to keep them in focus as they moved around. And lots of light equals heat.
