Look forward to that, it will be nice to see a Space film where I don't think the special effects are poor!

That looks great. I wonder if we'll get it here? If it did ok at Sundance then we should.

It's amazing how some stirring music and 38 year old imagery can make your heart beat faster and fill you with a sense of real wonder again ... I look forward to it.

That's so true. In the film "The Dish" a serious fun piece from some of our leading comedy people (Working Dog, they call themselves) about the Radio Telescope at Parks NSW, which relayed the moon landing of Apollo 11, they used a short piece of communication between the Eagle and Huston. It not only gave a whole new seriousness to the film, but reminded me of watching the landing at my kindergarten on a huge black and white tv someone had brought in for the occasion. It was Parks' turn to relay communication...and it just happened to be at that time.

Do you remember? My parents still have the news paper with the front page headline.

Here's the site. A fun film if you haven't seen it and also if you have.

Watching Apollo 13, I still can't believe they managed it with the giant pocket calculators they had for computers.

I love "The Dish" for all the reasons mentioned. It's a beautifully crafted light comedy but with one foot firmly planted in the magic of the moment. Dare I say it, the soundtrack is very much like Apollo 13 too and gets regularly played here. It's a must see movie. The American national anthem is a classic laugh out loud moment every time I see it.

I saw "The Dish" not long ago and really liked it. There are some very good scenes and moments.

I just can't wait for this film...it's a subject so close to my heart.

Just hope it goes on general release here in the UK and we can see it on the big screen.

I totally agree.

Sometimes I think that the Apollo missions were really the last great event of exploration... and that everything else is downhill. I mean, I think the ISS is awesome, but it's really just "next door" when compared to the lunar missions. So I think the human spirit that seems to thrive in the adversity of going somewhere for the first time has really been dulled by 40 years of mediocrity in the field of exploration.

It great to see a new docu-space movie. But, I have to ask has not been done before?

What is going to seperate this from Al Reinart's wonderful 1989 movie"For All Mankind" which includeds Brian Eno's superb soundtrack. It was not long ago was remastered and expanded for DVD release. Al Reinhart is reputed to have gone through all the NASA moon landing/Apollo footage.

Whilst on about DVD's is not about time The Search For the Liberty Bell released on DVD.

It's worth searching out Aussie version of the Dish soundtrack as it is much expanded over the Euro version

Marty...

The Search for Liberty Bell was shown by Channel 4 a few years ago. I've got a copy of it somewhere on VHS (remember VHS?).
