Default *** FORUM SOFTWARE CHANGE ***

Friends, Romans, Countrymen (and ladies)

I may be about to change the forum software for vBulletin see http://www.therpf.com/ for an idea.

This has been a long time coming and it's not just for aesthetic reasons (security, adaptability, back-up, admin etc).

Will keep you updated.

Mark

Please now post all bugs here:

Sounds like a good idea...

Does this cost money, and if so are we looking for a small contribution from members to assist ?

It's a little... 'painful', put it that way and the licence is renewable annually.

However, I won't be taking a cent from anyone. Period.

If members wish to support the board, they can always purchase a banner - because they should at least get something tangible in return. That way, it's all fair.

Things move fast in my world so this is going to happen.

You might notice some or all of the following over the next day or so:

unstable
choppy
broken
erratic
down
wow!
urgh!
etc

Will try to keep the disruption to a minimum.

Very good, Eagle, but please dont make it black. I do love black for websites with lots of pics (they stand out much more) but for a forum it is a bit hard to read. But hey, you are in the graphics business, so you certainly will know that.

Cheers, Ron

Update:

New software has been kindly installed for testing by my web hosting guru, Openmind.

Just getting my head around the software now. Don't wait up though - could be a while yet.

Default Software Change

Sounds like it'll be a very good change, enhancing this forum onward! Thanks for doing that.

Thanks all for your support.

Little point posting anything important now as we may lose it when the new board goes live tomorrow.

Hold tight!

Wait! What about the emergency Eagle in case we don't make it through? Has it been stocked? Did it leave already? Have I missed it?

Will this cause all of our PM messages to get lost? I have lots of stuff I want to print, but currently no printer!

Cool. I won't be able to get to a public computer to print anything til next week, and didn't know if I should start trying to save everything to my computer. (Limited memory space for that... sheesh, there's always something going wrong!)
