Default Star Wars Shuttle Tydirium

Has anyone built the ERTL Shuttle Tydirium model? I just won one for $6.50 on eBay. A friend expressed some interest in the ship, so I'm going to build it for him. Does anyone have an opinion of this kit?

I personally think it is kind of funny-looking - but what the heck.

Not a bad kit, not a brilliant kit. I built one so long ago I cant recall too much about it now. It has the right shape and builds up to a large model. and it looks pretty good on its display stand. With a bit of effort its comes up well. The moving wings can be a problem though.

I built one too and sold it a year ago. Just add some more detail to the center wing. I glued some tiny parts between the left and the right part of the center wing. The two folding wings can not be moved upwards until they almost touch the center wing (like seen in the movies when landed). There I had to cut out the fixation to change that. Most important: decent weathering. I used graphite. The shuttle Tyderium could certainly look better with a proper lighting. A tiny little vader is included too.

It also comes with two officers to use as pilots.
The cockpit detail was not accurate compared to what was seen onscreen, so there's some scratchbuilding potential in that area. Also, I read somewhere that the angle of the nose isn't quite right relative to the rest of the body. Nothing you'd notice unless comparing it side-by-side to the studio model or screen grabs, but it's something you may wish to look into.
If you're just building it out-of-box, then yes, it looks decent when completed, and is clearly an Imperial shuttle. You certainly didn't go wrong with such a low price!

Yes, you are right, CR, I rembember now, that I also changed the angle of the cockpit. I think it doesn't really matter that the cockpit is not so detailed because the window part is very dark anyway.
