Default Keith Young's Alpha Technical Data Center

Anyone have any info on Keith Young's Alpha Technical Data Center publications. I've run across a couple of references on the web. What are/were they?

I recently added three example blueprints, including the Ultra Probe CM (see also on the page immediately above for pages from Jeff Ruble's Earth Command fanzine). I will do a small feature showing more prints soon.

I corresponded with him while he was making some of these prints, but unfortunately around 2000 he disappeared.

The Earth Command Technical Guide above it looks pretty interesting, too.

Thanks, Martin!

Since I'm just getting back into modeling and Space: 1999 after many, many years away, I have a ton of questions. The entire board has been so helpful and responsive. Thank you all!

Default Keith Youngs Blueprints

Hello All!

I've just won a complete set of these (courtesy of ebaY).

Have to say they are an awesome reference work.
Comparing them to the link above, I reckon I have the updated, accurised versions as the detail on the Ultra Probe & Main Mission plans is definitely different.

If anyone has any questions or would like to see some scans, I'm happy to share as long as this is OK with the moderators.

Cheers,
Ian

Well, as long as you aren't infringing on any copyrights, like say copying & selling the entire set for profit, I don't know that someone can't contact you privately. (Nothing prevents individuals from sharing the books, I suppose, especially if the copyright, if any exisits, is expired or invalid. But I still wouldn't try to sell copies in any case. Someone else more versed in copyright law can give you better advice than me, though.)
I, for one would love a set of these (especially the updated ones), but I won't ask you to break any laws to get me one.

Default Keith Young Blueprints

Hello,

I wasn't thinking of "selling" the prints, just making a few available online if anyone was interested.

The plans available to download (from the link above) are selected pages from the earlier issues, whereas I have the revised versions.

I particularly note differences in the details for the Ultra Probe & Main Mission although I am sure there are many more as there is so much to look at.

Of course now I have to source myself the Starlog Alpha Technical Manual to supplement Keith Youngs work!

I'm just hoping to share an awesome reference work with fellow enthusiasts.

Here's a sample scan of the Swift -

(Pulling this old thread out of mothballs...)

Ooh, nice Swift!

They've just started showing Space 1999 here on Japanese TV the other day, so I hauled my ancient Moonbase Alpha Technical Notebook out of storage and scanned it for my own easy reference as the series continues (and to save myself having to face the mustiness of 35 years every time I open the binder).

I'd always been disappointed that Starlog never updated the Notebook, as I was one of the optimistic kids back then that sent in the coupon. But I hadn't heard that anybody had taken taken matters into their own hands and made unofficial supplements for it. Shoulda known though! The subset of Keith's plans in that zip file look great! I'm definitely interested in hunting down the rest of the set.

Default Keith Young is alive and well

Hello all,

I'm still around, infact I've been talking to some of you in Taybor's Emporium.
Anyway to make a long story short, I still have my prints for sale, but not at the moment. I am currently finishing up Vol 6 which will be released on cd format in 2009. The older sets will be updated and released alltogether on one cd later on in 2009. I am totally breaking away from the Starlog format and this will be my own copyrighted product. You can check out one of the new prints here.

Default Blueprints

I will add a few more pics soon. Please note that none of them are in their completed form yet. The Moonbase Alpha example print above is just to show you the new look of the prints getting away from the Starlog format

This is an early Hawk print that was drawn several years ago that I never released. It with three other Hawk prints will be in the new set. Not in this format tho

These look terrifc Keith - I can't wait to get the CD!!

Will you be including blueprints for the Kaldorian and Taybor's ships? I'd love to see those included to see interior details and for scale information.

Default Alien ships

I have only drawn the Caldorian ship. I have decided to put Alien ships on the backburner for now since there is still a lot to cover on Alpha, equipment, and Earth ships. But that doesn't mean some won't show up. I have tons of alien ship pics to draw from thanks to Martin Willey. We'll see. Might even get a print of Texas city. One I would love to do is the Daria. But my photo source is limited...
