Default what happened with Balor ?

This question was once proposed by a french fan on Spacenet. I propose it again here :

We have seen Balor's body hurlied out off (or hurlied off out ?) the hatch. So what afterwards ? Is he immortal or not so much ?

My new answer that I have today :

Balor is a supersayen, a megaAspie, a man wayyyyyyy to much healthy, a real Skull and Bones. A Troll. You can't stop him, deter him, convince him. Isolation is the only thing he's fearing of. In isolation, he starts autodestruction, just can't help.
Inside his meteor, he survived, hardly, thanks to the virtual company of the paintings. But, all alone in space, he's going crunching.

Bye bye love, hasta la vista baby

Often wondered about this too. He is able to "retrometabolize" but he would be in a constant state of "dying" in the vacuum. You might describe it as a living death.

Egads. Forever suffocating. Not a nice way to go (not go?), but the character was evil enough for it to be a fitting end.

Yeah, I always wondered about Balor's fate also.

Getting blown out an airlock would not propel Balor into space, he wouldn't be traveling nearly fast enough to escape Lunar gravity. The best you could hope for would be he was shot a couple hundred feet away where he impacted the lunar surface.

Based on what we saw, he needs air to breath like the rest of us, but they repeatedly said his people cannot die. So I'm guessing that in vacume he could not remain conscious. He would lie there comatose on the lunar surface, but would re-animate if you ever brought him back into a normal atmosphere.

Koenig may not have thought of this, but I'm sure Victor or Alan Carter realized Balor was lieing out there close to the base. So they probably sent a cargo eagle out to grab him with a winch.... then dragged the body out of the moon's gravitational field and let him drift off into oblivion.

Problem solved.

Until the Enterprise or some such picked him up to give him a decent burial. Surprised he never made it into one of their shows... or more particularly Star Gate, which seems to have ripped off every show that's "gone before" Good thing its still a good watch.... so back to Balor

I thought comes to mind about whether they may have sealed him in his rock again and tried to blow it all up... a la the ending shots. As long as he didn't get the o2 going again he could be imprisoned in it without too much trouble.

Aladin ? And the genious in the rock ?

Blowing the rock makes sense with my hypothese, if this rock helps him keeping conscience. His own people, after all, did not want him out of service. Imaginating him comatous is nice. Drifting until falling into a star one day...

I didn't know he had the "Brady bunch" playing in that thing... or "Star Trek: the next thousand years" perhaps

I believe the books by Powys Media tackle the subject of Balor, in both a prequel & a sequel to the episode itself.

Yes yes yes !!! They certaintly do and a thumpingly good read too. It is called Resurrection by William Latham, Not gonna give anything away, but just give one word of warning...dont read it alone!!!!! left me haunted by nightmares of Balor for a few nights after reading the book !!

I've always imagined that the force that reconstructs the asteroid (by the way, fabulous ending S99 at it's best) also returns Balor to his prison deep inside. He's there now.

Alternatively...he returned to Earth as a nouveau riche country house owner and had an on-off relationship with Penelope Keith.

Why yes... so he did. What was that about continuous torture.

Its funny when you put him in that context he's not so scary any more. The actor really does a good job actually because I hate the ep not because its but because he's so creepy.

Only thing that freaked me out about that episode was Koenig getting beat nearly to death by a model building Eagle driver (although I think that Sopwith Camel he was smacking Koenig with wasn't an Airfix kit).

Well said, Sir! I agree, it was a great ending: understated but unsettling.

Bloody hell, I made the same joke to my Mrs when we watched it - are you stalking me?

Maybe he ended up in hospital with James Bolam and Christopher Strauli....

Models have weight in Anderson shows! Craig Collins beats the snot out of John Grey using an Airfix Saturn V in 'UFO'.

Photos of a bloodied Koenig lying on the floor (but where never really shown on the episode) have ended up on websites and in videos, and it's a really creepy photo.
