They'll be coming later...got over 300 pics on Saturday, but literally just had time to download the camera, and charge it up while sleeping before heading off now for round 2.

Excellent con so far. Been talking at length to several people from this forum - so much so that we have completely missed the main programme including Gerry Anderson etc - we really are Eagleholics

Had dinner last night with forum members who were joined by 'Sandra Benes' herself - telling a few good stories which I'm not allowed to repeat online...

Off in a moment with my AB 22" and 44" eagles (in kit form) in tow, to compare notes with everyone.

Oh and by the way, the first PRODUCTION P.E. 23" Eagle arrived and was placed on the Comet Miniatures stand. We took it out of the case - flew it around the room - and then took a ton of pictures of this from every angle so you guys can make an informed decision about purchase. While there are some niggles, I shall still have one myself and make corrections where necessary.

Off now...pitures later - I promise !

Thank you Chris!!!!!

I am now stacking food and beverages around my computer desk…won’t go out and will even skip work tomorrow if need be!!!! (I’m obviously slightly exaggerating… ).

Anyway, the goings-on at the Con sound incredible and I envy you guys to death…

I was glad to hear about your positive input regarding the PE 23” Stretched Edition…good or bad, I’m also planning on getting one.
Looking forward to the Con pictures…and to see some of the faces too!

Muito obrigado!...have fun on day # 2!

Hi All

Well, here we go with the first 'match report'. (Don't let me steal any thunder here - post away with your stuff!)

Present, courtesy of Comet Miniatures, was one of the first production Product Enterprise 23" 'Studio Scale' Eagles - number 0005 if memory serves...

Yes, it's grey. Greyer than a grey thing from Greyville. More detailed shots were taken and will be available soon.

Other Eagles present and on display were:

The one and only Eagle-1
Tobor's 44" Eagle
Scratch-built 22" Eagle by David S
Warp Eagle by Chris P

Wow...I'm completely 'Eagled' out now after two solid days of drooling over the original Eagle 1 and other models, and chatting with several of you guys.

The first official meeting of 'Eagleholics Anonymous' has drawn to a close and I now have 620 images at 6 megapixel fine resolution (1.55Gb) sitting on my computer (446 of these are Eagle related - the rest are of various other models at the con) - my camera is in meltdown and having a well-deserved recharge.

I managed to miss most of the offical con talks and activities, but just 'escaped' the model room to make time for autographs from Zienia Merton & Barry Morse, the auction (which raised £2,000 for charity - thanks in part to our leader here...) and a few other bits and pieces.

Some of us had to be dragged 'kicking and screaming' from the model room at the end of the con...even though we were all slightly exhausted...but my sincere thanks must go to both David Sisson who allowed us to 'crawl' all over Eagle 1, and Chris Trice, who's Eagle knowledge seems to know no bounds.

Chris was taking the mickey out of us for most of the weekend with our incessant photograph taking, but I think we turned the tables a bit when he was caught on the floor in a corner of the model room with the Eagle 1 pod and a Pantone reference chart and magnifying glass in his hands - trying to colour match the original Alpha logo...

Having said that I can honestly say I've learned more about the original models this weekend than I have in my previous 30 years of interest in the craft.

It was good to meet some of you - Mark, Jim, Chris, David, Tony et al - as well as many other fans and modellers all who share a passion that we're lucky enough to be able to discuss here on this forum.

Having discussed the AB models kits with some of you, I'm now inspired to take the useable bits of this and combine them with Chris' nosecone and scratchbuild a brass framework and other parts just like Jim did with his excellent model he had on display. A beautiful example which he should be proud of (though he says he can improve on certain areas of the model with his second attempt at it !)

Chris Trice also had some excellent pods which he showed us - his workmanship is legendary and I'm in awe of these items. But the reference material that Chris has gathered over the years has to be seen to be believed...did you guys all know for example that the landing gear pads are supposed to be primarily white ? I certainly didn't know, and have been merrily painting my pads light grey over the years. But apparently this is just 'moon dust' staining on a white base coat...

Thanks also to Jim and Chris for arranging to have a selection of Jim's merchandise available at the show. I had already arranged to obtain the probeship nosecone, spine booster, set of 3 tanks and Eagle blueprints...but on Saturday evening we all examined the pilot ship model and eventually all had to have one - something I had not intended to buy this weekend. Had to sneak it home 'under the radar' so as not to be rumbled by the wife...she'd kill me if she knew how much I spent this weekend !

Add to that about £80 of items from Fanderson, and another £90 at Comet miniatures (two P.E. UFO Mobiles and the new P.E. Fireball XL5)...definitely ground for divorce. But I did buy the wife a present - an International Rescue cloth patch which she asked for - a good trade I think

Don't know quite how I'm going to make these images available to you guys. I assume it would be OK (and please correct me on this Chris if you feel there is a problem with it) to send you guys a DVD (or CDs if you can't read DVDs) with the pics on if you request it and provide your details. Problem is if I get innundated with tons of requests, as I think I will, I may have to ask for a few pounds for each disk to cover my costs.

I'm very happy to do a reciprocal deal with you guys - i.e. you send me your pics and I'll send you mine - but if you have nothing to offer in return I hope you won't mind me asking for a few pounds (I can take Paypal if that suits you). Let me make it clear that I'm not trying to profit from this, just cover legitimate costs.

PM me if interested, and we'll discuss what's required etc.

Well that's me done for now...I need some sleep. I'll try to get some reduced resolution sample images up tonight or tomorrow morning...but right now I need a drink and my bed !

Will talk soon...

Chris

Send away. I'm cool. They're your pics.

I don't know about you guys but I slept for ten hours last night. It was great fun.

I have only just surfaced, lazy so and so you all cry, especially those of you who have had to go to work.

I was completely cream crackered last night and I did not get in until around 11pm, mind you we we stayed on a bit talking to various people for a while after the con, obviously no homes to go to.

Mind you, I was up at 4.00am on Saturday and only had about 4 1/2 hours sleep on Staurday night, so I reckon that I deserved some sleep.

Chris, please put me down for a DVD or CDRom, (which ever) of the pictures that you took, no problem with payment at all, as Chris already mentioned they are your pictures and you have costs involved reproducing them, so please let me know how much and your Paypal details etc when you have the time.

uhmmmm porn ....

ohh I mean ... arghhh ..

I also used a great amount of cash this week .... The missus and I "accidently" bought a car .. whoops

Well, it's been planned for a while, but we hadn't planned to actually buy a car until october/november ... but yesterday when we had testdrived the car, the case was clear .. It just had to be that one...

The car is ready for us on friday.. can't wait.

Can't wait to see the pics, Chris

Cheers fellow Eagleholics

Quick question to those of you who were at the con...do you know what the piece of music was that accompanied the excellent sequence shown at the beginning of the opening / closing ceremonies ?

Can't get it out of my head - I know it's a well-known piece, but have no idea what it is, so can't go hunting for a CD with it on...

It's driving me mad !

No Eagles in these two pictures I am afraid, but somebody on this forum had to get some pictures that did not have Eagles in them.

1.....No Eagles but very much Space 1999 themed.

Yours truly with Zenia Merton and Barry Morse, with my Moonbase Technical Manual in the foreground, I managed to get Gerry Anderson's autograph in there too.

http://premium1.uploadit.org/AnthonyB//FC1999.JPG

2.....No relevance at all to Space 1999, other than the people in the picture may well have watched some of the episodes.

Yours truly with 5 of the 7 voice cast from the new CGI Captain Scarlet series.
