Default home made model effects (thread 2)

Hi,

I filmed my rocket launch yesterday and I thought I'd post some pics of it in a nice new thread...

Final film stills...

Behind the scenes...

What are using for the rocket propulsion effect? Is it a flare or a firework or something like that? It looks really great.

That's excellent. Simple and effective. Just the way Derek Meddings would have done it.

Brilliant! I'm fair envious of your setups:-)!!!

David,
Your first thread, and now this one, are both great.
Excellent behind the scenes access to your production.
A look at the actual finished film will be greatly appreciated.

Very good. ILM would've spent a fortune doing the same thing. Love it.

I even love the blades of grass that are the size of trees... Is this lift off from Mars?

Well done...

In fact, I was struck by the resemblance to the launch sequence in 'Doppelganger' (later reused in 'UFO'). Great job!

I echo the fellow member statements - Fraking awsome. I was suprised how "firey" the Estes rocket engine was. I fly those rockets and just see smoke - never the flame. How did you disable to ejection charge? Did you make the outlet nozzle wider as well so there wasn't too much thrust?

That is so effective, as Paul said, very andersonesque indeed with even the old fan taking care of the smoke.
