Hi there - I'd love to hear peoples comments regarding which, for them, was the funniest Space 1999 scene.
My personal favourite that always makes me chuckle when I see it, is a scene from the Season 1 'The Last Sunset' episode - Paul Morrow (on a serious mushroom high) is madly going on to a distressed looking Helena and Sandra about "spreading humanity from solar system to solar system." Alan Carter approaches from behind with freshly gathered supply of 'mushroom,' sees that Paul has gone a bit mental, and so swiftly delivers an expert drop kick to the mushrooms, sending them high into the air, to Paul's anguished cries of '"That was sacred bread Alan, that was sent to us in our time of need !" |

Even though it's my favourite episode overall, the bit in the pre-title sequence in 'Collision Course' where Koenig says "Alan... we've got to have it there... or else we'll all die!", and Bergman shoots him that look...

The part where Kano is complaining that the Bergman field will take all the computer power and Victor says it could use a break..... its Alan's smirk that cuts me up, so subtle, but full of meaning

The Last Sunset, paul at the end saying it wasn't a bad trip cracks me up. Every time (right before the sunset makes me a little sad)
But the ending of The Dorcons with Helena and John and that sexual innuendo as she told him to get to Medical to fix his hand....always makes me smile and giggle.... Oh,the funniest scene...Brian the Brain humming the wedding music after John and Helena's love test with the simultaneous climax. |

"Guardian of Piri."
Bob Mathias, under the Guardian's influence, fills up a medicine cup to give to Koenig after the party in Medical. He seems to check the level of the liquid, adds a little more, then after Koenig wordlessly refuses the medicine, downs it himself. http://www.space1999.net/catacombs/m...p/spgop127.jpg http://www.space1999.net/catacombs/m...p/spgop128.jpg http://www.space1999.net/catacombs/m...p/spgop129.jpg

Actually, Carter's hairy chest shown liberally in that ep is also one of the funny moments... the shameless use of sex to attract the females

Oh c'mon. See the little wormy on the little hooky.
And of course Catherine's costume in the same episode was merely to indicate that it was very warm on Piri. |

Sorry, never been that partial to impaled slimy pseudo-sushi. Blech!
Oh, and was that who was wearing those very stylish blue swimming trunks. Can't say I really noticed. Poor Catherine, maybe we should provide a nice shawl. Those nippy Pirian nights, you know. ![]() |

See also: Michael Billington, who can be seen in all his fuzzy ape-man glory in the 'UFO' episode 'Ordeal'. Funnily enough, he was in the frame to play 007 at one point. Maybe body hair was a pre-requisite for the part.
I'll second the nomination for 'The Last Sunset'. I think I've previously suggested that Prentis Hancock may have enjoyed playing those scenes. There are some mildly amusing scenes in 'Testament of Arkadia' as well, e.g. the euphoric Eagle pilots, the party on Alpha, and Helena and Victor's patronising attitude to John. Mind you, much of season 2 - particularly Maya's transformations, and the god-awful music - is unintentionally funny. |
