That's the one I'm using as inspiration for my helijet project. I would upload photos of the progress but got problems with accessing my Virgin website development login (no doubt they will deny knowledge as usual and blame my PC), so it could be finished by the time they fix it!!!

This was my favorite helicopter design from Meddings. A helijet based on this desing is a really cool idea. I'm sorry we can't see your progress, but I look forward to the finished product.

I scanned this from the book Fantastic Collection Captain Scarlet from Asahi Sonorama. This book also covers Joe 90 and Secret Service. For the hardware enthusiast and modeller it's an indispensible reference book.

Are those TB1 winglets on the tail? Not a favourite of mine I'm afraid. It looks too much like a box with bits stuck on for my taste.

Yep, I think I agree. It looks like a hasty solution to "we need something to shoot tomorrow guys... now get to it!!!"

Yeah, it's ugly alright. I can't deny that. What I like about the design is the arragnement of the tandem rotors. That's very cool. The design is by Derek Meddings. There was a magazine a few years back that featured his artwork and a color sketch of this helicopter was included. By the way, Thank you Mike for the screen grabs.

As usual, Mike these are great!

Mine has turned out fairly different, but you will still see the lineage. Looks like it will be a while before I can post photos as Virgin have withdrawn the ability to update the Personal Web pages, so I might have to redo my entire web site somewhere else - and that could take me months!

Thanks again for more great images Mike. I'm enthusiastic enough about the subject at this point to start a MAYA model of this and shelve the MEV project for a little while. Those close-ups are a great help for creating texture maps.

The 'copter was designed for Thunderbirds are Go, but only appears very briefly in the movie. It was definately a thought out design, rather than being hastily put together, though it does have the look of something that might have been kit-bashed.

Im sure I recognise the rectangular boxes, which the rotors sit in, and on the wing below it, but cant think where,

I think the landing pad looks like a large emery board for filing nails etc?

That's one part of the design I don't really like. I've gone for something similar to the Spectrum Helicopter.

Also I think it is a model which only looks good from certain angles. In the TB film they are filmed from the front taking off and look quite good. I've got quite a good still which appeared in a Thunderbirds calendar.

Those boxes on the outer wings, look like the engines off the fireflash tail section

These are a bit too box like for Fireflash. Its interesting that they make the supports for these boxes aerodynamic and then plonk the boxes on top
