Default Buggy-shelf

If this picture is copyright to someone and you know who it is, please advise..and I will alter or remove it, it came from the Catacombes, sometimes the pictures are capturable / save-able, this one came up on a search for moon buggies on Google, so apologies to whoever owns, get in touch..Phil do you recognise it at all ?.
More later, Ian "eagle44"

Default Freighter winch gear

...I wanted to clear something up...
The 22in Freighter winch gear. is something I MADE. So far as I'm aware neither the 22in or 44in originals still exist or are heaven knows where.
The Reason it's Grey is because I screwed up in a pathetic attempt to dirty it down so I could display it on my original 22 Eagle, which was very dirty. If you see pics of a 22in original....that's MY winch sitting there.
I still have this piece and used original kit parts from the Airfix Saturn 5 and Revell 1/24 Gemini kit.
I should've painted it white and intend to re-do it at some point....so the PE winch gear IS the wrong colour after all!!
Sorry!

Default off thread winch gear

chris/ phil, I am right that the 22" winch came first with kit detailing, then copied upto 44", I can see the gemini long centers, saturn v drums ,etc, but have never known the large part directly in the center, could you please help in anyway, identities of the parts on the drum fronts I've also struggled with, being new to the forum I may have missed previuos threads?, I have made a 22" winch assembly a long while ago, but have not got further with the detailing, I suddenly feel another a load more researching coming on,

Yes, it appears the 22" one may have been made first and then scaled up for the 44" including scaled up fabricated kit pieces. They did this with the two Skydiver models too so we know it happens. Over to Phil on this one.

thanks DX, I really am still learning aren't I,as you know that I've with never being around conventions and the like, I sometimes make mistakes in how many models were made of a particular model, and in how many scales they were done in, and which particular model your sometimes looking at, easier with the laser tanks isn't it. you get researching paticular models, but still finish up not knowing fully about the rest, possibly why this forum is so great, with input from yourself/phil and all the others,

I'd say it's a compliment to the model makers that differences between them are (mostly) hard to spot.

That was one of the first things I did when I got the PE winch pod. Looks so much better, as with the walkways.

Wasn't it obviously white in the series? I never understood why they painted it grey other than the usual lack of even the tiniest effort to check.

True but it's not like there aren't a hundred other photos that have been published showing it as white. One of the annuals shows a good clear colour close up and there's always the Catacombs screen grabs if they're too lazy to look at the episode and only want to use the net. Courtesy of the Catacombs:

Yeh, probably just grasping at straws as to why they did it.

It has a precedent though. When Monogram released the 1/32 Apollo CSM kit, they covered the CM in gold chrome, even though the CM is silver chrome. And the only reason they did this is that they looked at an Apollo 10 photo which was reflecting the Moon, and because of the printing of this particular photo the Moon had a yellow cast!! They could have picked just about any other photo, but it would have to have been this one!
